Important note: this will only be a positive force in the world if you ACT with compassion to others, like the people who gave those presents did. There are lots and lots of people who instead say “therefore poor people in my own country should not demand better living conditions”, and that makes the world a worse place because it blocks efforts to relieve people’s hardship. So pick a way you can help others, and do it.

@@ronkledonkanusmoncher564 It's true you can work it all off. Hardcore backpackers and hikers treat snickers bars like they're gasoline for a car. That said, these snacks just have no nutritional value besides things like simple carbs, fats, and sodium. The fact that they're so tasty and easy to eat can make them very addictive too. Some people fill up on them instead of nutritious foods. So if you were to ONLY eat this stuff, or eat too much you would become malnourished and vitamin/mineral deficient. I’m a Native American (Cherokee Indian), and probably old enough to be your father. I only have one child, a daughter, who’s a senior in college. We Americans know very little about the people of North Korea...only it’s leader. To see the honesty, thanks, and humility on your face, and hear it in your voice was very moving for me. It made me think of my own daughter and what she perhaps would have had to endure if she had grown up in North Korea. The gifts you received are pretty much taken for granted by we Americans. I hope that yourself and your family will enjoy them. The people (men and women) of your country deserve better out of their leadership. Government and it’s officials withstanding perhaps, all of you are simply just “regular” people, no different than any of us here. Watching this video showed me that for the very first time. I’ll be keeping a good thought for yourself and your family...thank you for the gift of sharing a little part of your life.

Most Americans know about North Korea and the struggle its people endure. Do not misrepresent an entire country due to your own ignorance.
@drew65sep3 жыл бұрын
@@GamerNerdess I don't feel that I misrepresented anything having grown up during the Cold War, practicing "Duck and Cover" in school once a week, seeing the fall of the Berlin Wall, knowing what the "Iron Curtain" was, what it represented, and the things that were kept hidden behind it by Communism, and away from Western eyes. I made a "generalized" statement that was intended as nothing but a compliment to one that has lived under, and escaped tyranny. How the hell you could take that as an insult, or ignorant, is utterly ridiculous. I'd challenge you to walk down the street and find one person out of ten that can even name the tyrant that's in control of North Korea, or knows what Communism is and what it represents. And, who would also know a damn thing about the Korean "Police Action." Why, and when it happened, the participants, the results, and if they have any clue what the 38th Parallel or DMZ is. The mere fact that you are unable to understand my comment or it's intent, took it as a personal insult, and gave you reason to personally attack me and my words, is a better representation of "ignorance" than any twisted misunderstanding of a comment left by me. But, that's an impossible task for one who is an admitted "nazi" such as yourself now isn't it? You're the epitome of "ignorance," who should be locked up and studied...or, at least spayed/neutered. You're contaminating the gene pool of this great Country.

yes, it is the American attitude that we respect all other countries and cultures. Korea...both North and South have a long standing culture. Its just too bad that the North had the unfortunate result as having the communist government they have. That is NO reflection on the people
@bradgaines50912 жыл бұрын
@@joeczernik2459 While they call themselves communist, in reality they're a dictatorial monarchy. Current leader is the son of the previous leader, chosen by him to take over, and whom was the son of the leader before that. And the whole family does whatever they want, while everyone else has to do what they say. And pretty much every country with Democratic and/or People's in the country's name is anything but. Those with Republic in the name often are the same, but not as often.

Getting stationed in Korea was a really awkward experience for me since it's so obvious that the people in the north are treated so poorly by their own government. When one of their guys defected across the border, it was bittersweet because everyone was just worried if he was okay since they shot him up pretty bad after he ran the checkpoint on the NK side of the DMZ. I heard he had some pretty serious medical issues even without the gunshot wounds. Never actually heard if he survived.
