Props to your cosplay and taking advantage of gullible people to score free snacks. I would love to see the numbers; like, how much you it cost to make this video and how many "gifts" it took for you to break even. I'll bet that at least 1 person was dum enough to send you money.

Important note: this will only be a positive force in the world if you ACT with compassion to others, like the people who gave those presents did. There are lots and lots of people who instead say “therefore poor people in my own country should not demand better living conditions”, and that makes the world a worse place because it blocks efforts to relieve people’s hardship. So pick a way you can help others, and do it.

Unfortunately, she answered wrong. She should have said "Everyday is a gift, given to us from our fearless leader Kim Jon Un". I feel like a lot of Americans underestimate their kindness. I understand everyone's experience is different, as I've gotten my fair share of rude people here, but as someone from an Asian country known for hospitality who went through bullying, seeing people even give the slightest apology kind of made me tear up. A lot of strangers didn't hesitate to help us, and everyone feels genuinely human.

No I don’t think they do, I just think some Americans don’t see it as relevant how kind they are when they have no autonomy. That said I think all Americans feel deeply for their plight freedom and personal autonomy is something we deeply value and it makes us sad and angry to see people deprived of such things. There is no hate for the North Korean people in the slightest in the US only the foolish actions of their leader.

Getting stationed in Korea was a really awkward experience for me since it's so obvious that the people in the north are treated so poorly by their own government. When one of their guys defected across the border, it was bittersweet because everyone was just worried if he was okay since they shot him up pretty bad after he ran the checkpoint on the NK side of the DMZ. I heard he had some pretty serious medical issues even without the gunshot wounds. Never actually heard if he survived.

I’m a Native American (Cherokee Indian), and probably old enough to be your father. I only have one child, a daughter, who’s a senior in college. We Americans know very little about the people of North Korea...only it’s leader. To see the honesty, thanks, and humility on your face, and hear it in your voice was very moving for me. It made me think of my own daughter and what she perhaps would have had to endure if she had grown up in North Korea. The gifts you received are pretty much taken for granted by we Americans. I hope that yourself and your family will enjoy them. The people (men and women) of your country deserve better out of their leadership. Government and it’s officials withstanding perhaps, all of you are simply just “regular” people, no different than any of us here. Watching this video showed me that for the very first time. I’ll be keeping a good thought for yourself and your family...thank you for the gift of sharing a little part of your life.

@@GamerNerdess I don't feel that I misrepresented anything having grown up during the Cold War, practicing "Duck and Cover" in school once a week, seeing the fall of the Berlin Wall, knowing what the "Iron Curtain" was, what it represented, and the things that were kept hidden behind it by Communism, and away from Western eyes. I made a "generalized" statement that was intended as nothing but a compliment to one that has lived under, and escaped tyranny. How the hell you could take that as an insult, or ignorant, is utterly ridiculous. I'd challenge you to walk down the street and find one person out of ten that can even name the tyrant that's in control of North Korea, or knows what Communism is and what it represents. And, who would also know a damn thing about the Korean "Police Action." Why, and when it happened, the participants, the results, and if they have any clue what the 38th Parallel or DMZ is. The mere fact that you are unable to understand my comment or it's intent, took it as a personal insult, and gave you reason to personally attack me and my words, is a better representation of "ignorance" than any twisted misunderstanding of a comment left by me. But, that's an impossible task for one who is an admitted "nazi" such as yourself now isn't it? You're the epitome of "ignorance," who should be locked up and studied...or, at least spayed/neutered. You're contaminating the gene pool of this great Country.

If your team still is in contact with her please let her know how much love has come in from this video, from her wholesomeness, and for helping put into perspective how something as "simple" as a snack to us in the USA can be so dramatically changing for some. When she spoke of only taking small bites to ensure her family had some, for discussing her appreciation at the gesture but the moment she said she has NEVER had a gift even on her birthday got me choked up. And her comment that resonated a lot was how her perspective on when you have NO CHOICE in food (aka very little, bland, not good) and her finally learning options of food when escaping to SK was also powerful. What a strong person, anyone who survives and escapes NK must be but wow. Thank you for this.

@@ronkledonkanusmoncher564 It's true you can work it all off. Hardcore backpackers and hikers treat snickers bars like they're gasoline for a car. That said, these snacks just have no nutritional value besides things like simple carbs, fats, and sodium. The fact that they're so tasty and easy to eat can make them very addictive too. Some people fill up on them instead of nutritious foods. So if you were to ONLY eat this stuff, or eat too much you would become malnourished and vitamin/mineral deficient. I'm more concerned about that than getting fat. Including them into a healthy diet and being active is no problem though.
