Getting stationed in Korea was a really awkward experience for me since it's so obvious that the people in the north are treated so poorly by their own government. When one of their guys defected across the border, it was bittersweet because everyone was just worried if he was okay since they shot him up pretty bad after he ran the checkpoint on the NK side of the DMZ. I heard he had some pretty serious medical issues even without the gunshot wounds. Never actually heard if he survived.

We Americans know very little about the people of North Korea...only it’s leader. To see the honesty, thanks, and humility on your face, and hear it in your voice was very moving for me. If your team still is in contact with her please let her know how much love has come in from this video, from her wholesomeness, and for helping put into perspective how something as "simple" as a snack to us in the USA can be so dramatically changing for some. When she spoke of only taking small bites to ensure her family had some, for discussing her appreciation at the gesture but the moment she said she has NEVER had a gift even on her birthday got me choked up. And her comment that resonated a lot was how her perspective on when you have NO CHOICE in food (aka very little, bland, not good) and her finally learning options of food when escaping to SK was also powerful. That said, these snacks just have no nutritional value besides things like simple carbs, fats, and sodium. The fact that they're so tasty and easy to eat can make them very addictive too. Some people fill up on them instead of nutritious foods. So if you were to ONLY eat this stuff, or eat too much you would become malnourished and vitamin/mineral deficient. I'm more concerned about that than getting fat. Including them into a healthy diet and being active is no problem though.
