It hurts. Truly it feels like a physical pain to hear all that garbage once again. I was born and 'educated' in socialist Czechoslovakia, unfortunately I know rather precisely what is it about. Good job. Dr Lindsay. Not sure if the western blindness to communism can be helped, but at least I can appreciate an honest attempt.

at 21:52 : iiiiii really like to say - when cleaning up my bad words dirty slang speak, instead of the classic "BULLsh!t!" - this : "BOLshevik!" or just "BOLsh-!" for short. two birds down. ka-BLAM. * Nota Bene! : special hat-tip to the claasy way in which swearing was cleaned up yet still present in Wes Anderson's Roald Dahl book-to-'film', Fantastic Mr Fox -- they replaced the terrible R-rated "fcuk" with "cuss". simple. clear. clever. ..."you cussin' with me?!" ..."what a cluster-cuss!" ...et al. [although, i can only recall those two specific examples at the moment.] it was especially quite striking when Mr Fox (George Clooney) and Badger, that cunning lawyer (Bill Murray), exchanged some heated words from across Badger's desk at his law office, the camera angle volleying between them both : close-up of Mr Fox's face in a snarl framed by his pawing forepaws to close-up of Badger's seething low growler, also framed by whirring slashes of black-nailed paws. you can literally almost feel the fine spray of angry saliva misting out from the confines of the screen. makes me wanna go another front row round at a Gallagher show! the watermelon always deserved top billing... 🤔 * disclaimer : i never went to a Gallagher show. i was a pre-teen during his heyday so i did see a lot of him and his juicy fruit meets Bob the Builder antics on the TV here and there.

1:45:20 This line is perfectly written. I think in terms of, 1st world) capitalist, 2nd world) militarist, 3rd world) communist. 3rd just breeds disorderly, mass anarchy, and also resembles mob rule, pure democracy. It's a power vacuum, and a tyrant, junta or military force, are the kinds of things that fill the vacuum. A kind of proxy for centralized control, can emerge and become less centralized, over a longer time. With free markets. So that wealthy, or otherwise influential individuals can share, at least a partial, relative diffusion of power. The separation of powers can foster a more resilient system, and result in greater freedoms, for greater numbers of people. Thereby, a capitalist, 1st world, can gradually emerge out of the long 'emergency' of history. Wherein monarchs mostly ruled. The 1st world is somewhat tenuous, in certain ways. (Resilient in others). Due to the danger of insidious saboteurs, it's possible to undo the improvements of centuries, within a single generation. So, uhhh. Let's not do that.

The more I learn about Marxism, the more I believe it is the most absurd extreme to which Protestant Christianity can be taken. And what you're talking about at 17:40 strikes me as precisely that: the marriage between secular humanism, which was theee dominant philosophy during the early stages of Protestantism, and Christian ethics, this latter of which was at first used cynically to appeal to the Protestants but later became the synthesis that we know of as Marxism, with all of its species, or, more accurately, "denominations."
@haraldbredsdorff2699Күн бұрын
No idea why you blame Protestantism for this. You might want to look into the version of Christianity that dominate in the countries where communism get power. It is not protestants. Marxism, is just Plato's Republic, plagiarized but claim to be for the "working class", and the party is the "philosopher kings". Because these people are not original.

@theunknownatheist3815 Indeed, Marxism is the religion of Atheists. It is secular humanism cloaked in Christian ethics in order to appeal to the moral sensibilities of Christians, thereby hoodwinking Christians into the faith... This explains why Marxism (and all of its species) displays all the trappings of the Christian religion, but with "Humanity" as its deity, its object of worship... Notice how, for example, when Kamala Harris was asked whether she would support giving free medical treatment to illegal aliens, she responded by saying "Let me be clear, I am opposed to any policy, that would leave any 'human being' without medical treatment..." Notice how she attempts to persuade using the category "human being" as the supreme moral category. What's so weird is that atheists will, on the one hand, claim that we are just another animal, a part of "nature;" while, on the other, treating our humanity as something so venerable as to be beyond reproach, an idea exuding such unimpeachable and persuasively decisive moral force that no rational argument can even begin to criticize it. But this is normally a treatment reserved for the concept of God. In short---so the argument goes---human beings are as valueless as anything else in nature, but also infinitely valuable. Here we see the inner tension of Marxism, a tension that I believe was consciously created---at least in large measure by its better known expositors, who were very much privy to the mysticism of Hegel, a Lutheran theologian if there ever was one!!

The bourgeoisie are Jewish, if you want to get really biblical, open up the early books in the Old Testament and think about the religions that were competing against Jeudism and later Christianity as Abrahamic religions. Knowing that communism is at heart a Gnostic religion, at least possibly as old or older, being at war with these Abrahamic religions is no surprise. The story of Cain and Able I think, is also a part of this as well. If you think about Marx, he was a perennial loser who was living off the charity of others while feeling entitled. Cain was similar, his efforts weren't being rewarded what he felt he was entitled to and killed his brother out of resentment.

Atheism is not a philosophy. It's not an ideology. It's not an ethos. This is atheism... *Some Guy:* Gods exist. *An Atheist:* Oh. Can you prove that? *Some Guy:* Well, no but... *An Atheist:* Okay, then I don't believe you. That's it! Theists make a claim. I don't accept that claim because the theist hasn't met their burden. I'd like to believe in gods, ghosts, vampires, zombies, and all manner of preternatural things. However, I care that what I believe is true. The bigger the claim, the more evidence required. If you say you have bacon for breakfast, I'm happy to accept that as true without evidence. People eat bacon for breakfast all the time. But say you had bacon for breakfast while on a flying saucer travelling to Jupiter, you're going to need some serious evidence if you want me to believe that.
