So Im at the beginning with the tattoo shop. And although the women tattooing isn't necessarily wrong I believe I can offer insight for people who had a different experience in a different state. Ima Pennsylvania boy myself who grew up below the poverty line raised in section 8 (free or extremely low rent housing, like $50 monthly) and on food stamps (currency given to the poor for food). In pa if you're under the poverty line you get something called Medicaid which is essentially free health care for the poor. By the time I was 19 years old I seriously injured myself twice being the hyper ass kid I was lol. Shattered my my hip at 16 jumping over a car which required serious surgery, and even more so seriously expensive surgery/hardware. At 18 I then jumped off a train and shattered my ankle which again required the same, expensive surgery/hardware. If I remember correctly the bill for my hip stuff was about 500,000-800,000 and the ankle in the same range. All of which was covered by Medicaid, every penny. Now adays I'm a full time working class adult who doesn't make much money so I'm still on Medicaid. Also spent most of my adult life as an opioid/everything else addict, and have been to rehab/detox 6 or 7 times. In Pa and most all states there's state ran rehab facilitys that addicts can go for totally free. One time even I went to rehab after losing a job I had with full healthcare benefits and a state ran facility still took me in and put me on Medicaid when I got there. To put in perspective out of the 7 rehabs iv been I only went to the same one twice. Infact after googleing there are 269 state ran rehab facilitys in PA. So Dan basically what I'm tryna say is I'd be lying if I said I havent gotten an insane amount of help all while not having much at all, infact those same facility's hands down saved my life. Iv been in rehabs with old heads who have gone over 80 times in their adult life, they will keep excepting you over and over until you get it right free of charge. I believe the tattoo girl probably makes just over 30,000 - 45,000 a year which disqualifies you from the free benefits iv talked about. In my opinion that's where the dynamics or dichotomy between the advantages and disadvantages of capitalism begin. So with that I'm done and I hope you can read 😂🤣 just tryna give you some more insight in to things in America to that I have real deal and raw experience in. Very last thing, I swear. Would love to go see you check out Kensington Philadelphia documenting and sharing your thoughts. You will not expect nor regret seeing what you see. videos alone won't do it justice, you gotta be there.

@@whereisdan Getting sick in America without health insurance can be catastrophic for a person/family. They will take care of you, but be ready to pile up bills coming your way, from the nurse giving you a pill to the specialist checking in on your hospital bed. You will go broke. The health care as a system in America is inhuman and it’s broken. Back 8 years ago I was working at Cisco as a contractor for a staffing agency in Silicon Valley, (I’m a software designer and I do a lot of contract work), and I suffered an ankle injury playing volleyball in one of the company’s fitness centers. Cisco is a massive company by the way. At the time I didn’t have health insurance because it was very expensive even for someone like me getting paid for that particular job $85/hr. If you’re not a full-time employee you basically have to cover out of pocket your own health insurance plan. Anyways, I’ll never forget that I declined calling an ambulance to take me to ER and instead called my girlfriend to pick me up. I basically let the ankle sprain to recover itself. As a result I lost an inch of natural motion and I get reminded every time I do squats. Only in America.

There is healthcare for the poor in America in certain states. We have Medicaid, which in some states is based on income. Others it's based on income and if you have a job or are considered disabled. Medicaid is not the best but it definitely provides decent basic care for most people. It's hard for people to have good insurance if you don't have a great employer or have a lower income in general but make to much to be on state insurance. There is help for people when your down and out in America. It's just based on which state your in more then as a whole sometimes.

Medicaid is generally a good option if you're poor. In Michigan, for example, the cut off for ONE person is 18 000 a dollars a year. So if you work one minimum wage job at 40 hours a week, you would definitely be eligible... It just sucks that you're basically at the mercy of some bureaucrat. If you're low income and you let the billing department know in a hospital, they will almost always apply for medicaid on your behalf. That is, if you tell them.. I have a feeling a lot of Americans avoid disclosing their financial situation out of shame and just accept being saddled with medical debt. Or if they're even aware if they have that option.

I'm always confused about the healthcare here in USA. I have health insurance and everything is essentially free, all you need to get health insurance, is get a job and they provide the benefits, or stay under your parents insurance until your 27. There is also extremely cheap health insurance that everyone can afford. Maybe I don't know how it all works out but from my experience, no way in hell did I pay $40,000 for my broken arm. I also got PAID $10,000 a month for getting burned and stayed in the hospital for 7 months. So i just got a free 70k by just being in the hospital chillin. I don't understand how these people have to pay $100,000 on a surgery? Lol I got 20 skin graft surgeries for free and made money.

Doesn't sound bad.. im not sure. How much do you pay then for healthycare? I guess that's the crux. If someone living paycheck to paycheck cannot afford it, or if they are retired or such and cannot afford it

Your insurance is very much not the norm. I have to pay $550 a month for just my health insurance because i'm a contract employee in the physical therapy field. I end up paying the maximum out of pocket every year for an additional $8000 to treat the wear and tear caused by my job. Only the traumatic injuries I've had on the job have been covered by workers comp and even then that doesn't cover the chronic results of those injures. Even when I had insurance through work in the medical field, it was not good with the best plan being a $2200 deductible and $8k maximum out of pocket for $180/month premium for working 46 hours a week not counting charting done at home treating 3 patients simultaneously for an hour every hour. My wife is a Teacher and if we wanted to add a kid or me to her insurance we would have to pay $700 a month for insurance with a $3000 per person deductible and $15k family maximum out of pocket. I see thousands of patients each year and most insurance coverage is not good (average $3k deductible with $50 copay per visit not going to that deductible) with patients usually paying their entire deductible and then some for one injury. Medicare and Medicare advantage programs are by far the best insurance to have in physical therapy. There are many patients who just can't afford treatment and have to go back to work in pain for the rest of their life. Soon I'll be taking my skills in a job field that is predicted to grow in demand by 17% in the next 10 years to a different country that actually values human life.

So, healthcare isnt "free" in the US. Your employer may offer Healthcare benefits but you still pay for them out of your paycheck. Then, depending on how good your insurance is, you may have a HEFTY co-pay just to see a doctor as well as the cost of anything your insurance does not cover. If you were injured on the job, then it's considered a work related injury and your employer is required to cover all costs if liable. Then you get a percentage of what you would make during the time off of your job. But not everyone has insurance offered by their employer. Just because your job seemed to have great health insurance, doesn't mean your experience is the norm, because most Americans aren't given such good insurance. Living in Korea now, my health insurance is the BEST I've had in my entire 46 years of life. I'll likely never move back to America simply because of the safety living here and the excellent healthcare.

@@whereisdan I probably watched a couple but I think I saw most of the Korean videos. I was stationed over there in the US Army in 1960 and was surprised to see slums in Seoul. When I was there all roads north of Seoul were dirt roads . I even was able to find the areas that I was stationed at and some of the villages haven't progressed very much. Now all the roads are paved and electric power is everywhere. When I was there the generators were the old hit and miss type and when the generator would come up on a power stroke, the lights would dim. For that reason, most people used florescent lamps. I spent a lot of weekends in Seoul and loved it! Thanks for posting the videos.
