It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia did a terrific noir episode in its 14th season and it was written by Megan Ganz who's written some great Community episodes too! I would definitely recommend that. It's a very Community-esque departure for IASIP and very well done (imo)

I like how this episode uses what is probably the two biggest headcanons used in weird media like this; the "characters imagined the whole thing", usually the "it was all a dream" trope and sometimes "character was in a coma", and the "setting is actually purgatory"

This is probably what really got Dan Harmon fired, he took the format of a cost-saving clip show and turned it into something that cost extra money.

They didn't explicitly name Britta's trauma because her trauma was getting molested as an 11 year old. 😕 The story (which is largely hidden in her profile on the old Community website) is that at her 11th birthday party at a restaurant she was traumatised by a "eager-handed" man in a dinosaur costume and her parents didn't believe her. There was speculation as to what this meant. But in an AMA Dan Harmon confirmed Britta was molested. It really makes her arc dark and sad. I mean if you piece all the clues together, it screwed up everything for her. All her issues basically link back to that event 😞
