Geoff great chat, but I thought you did cars? That car is an Austin Maxi 1750cc not the BMC ADO17 1800cc or 2200 Landcrab. . The Maxi was BMC's first ever hatchback, the Landcrab was booted and a much larger vehicle.

Local Venues…. My company recently asked everyone to attend a meeting in the centre of London [opposite Westminster bridge] I refused to go because you have to pay to drive there, pay to park there, pay to stay in a hotel, and pay to get then have to walk or get a taxi to the venue building. [they were expecting us to get on a train a 5am in the morning they get the train back and get home about 10pm and not best pleased when some people started booking a hotel] Later our director was surprised when he found out the majority of us didn’t go. And could not understand when we said how about booking a local venue and support the local community

When I saw the title I thought it would be about community ownership of cars, a subject I was thinking about today. Particularly in winter, I often only use my car once a week to go and buy food. On my 20 minute drive to town I pass quite a few cars that always seem to be there, outside houses. Some of those cars are probably owned by retired people like me, who don't use them much. All those people are paying the full cost of running a car but could perhaps manage with a quarter share in a car. We have no buses so it would be a very small scale version of public transport.

I think getting enough people interested in community ownership of The Barn to start the ball rolling, will be challenging. Securing the deal, even harder. There is a lot of "money" in Ledbury but its very conservative money. I wish them luck. Such a shame, its closed every time I walk past it with the dog, otherwise I'd pop in.

That was not a land crab it was an Austin Maxi, the land crab was the Austin 1800 which were longer and wider than the Maxi! The engines were different too. Maxi had a 1750 single overhead can where the 1800 had a worked "B" series. The Maxi was the replacement for the Austin Cambridge, & the 1800 (which later had a larger capacity) was allegedly to replace the Westminster! It was modified to have a boot and fixed rear window!

The Westminster replacement was the Austin 3 litre, looked like a stretched land crab but was rear wheel drive with a 3 litre engine. Maxi was a stand alone model.

My first car was a Morris 1800 that I bought from my Dad. It was brilliant. I have fond memories of loading friends into the car to go clubbing. It was amazing how many people could squeeze in, lol. Great video, thanks Geoff.

I do prefer the community run places. The barn sound like a great venue for many things and I agree we need to have more community run pubs or venues rather than these huge corporate run pubs and restaurants now.

That wasn't a land crab. It's an Austin Maxi, the only only parts of a land crab there are the doors, which Maxi and the land crab shared to save money on tooling.

I hate council planning departments, i did a loft conversion in my ex council house, they insisted on 28 roof vents, 14 front and 14 back side, two years later they did the roofs on their own stock identical to mine....2 vents front and 2 vents at the back ! then because of all the massive ventilation they insisted on i then had to more than double up on the kingspan insulation that was in my original plans !

Yes, it was a load of rubbish! - - It's amazing how much junk you can shove into an Austin Maxi! And to think they went on to make the Marinaaaargh! Had a six-pot Princess for a while, until spares became unobtainable, even in scrapyards! Lovely motorway cruiser, but a real pain in a multi-storey. I think it burned as much oil as petrol!

The condition was The materials we were using on our boundary, but at that time the council were paying for the town Square to be redesigned, and they wanted to integrate the paving with us, so I could not give them a detail as they had not chosen material
