To this day one of my favorite exchanges in the whole show is the "That's racist!" back and forth between Jeff and Troy - beautifully deranged, and so quick. :)

Those quick double-triple joke moments are something the writers become sensational at executing. Be careful. You will be laughing at a joke sandwich and then somebody will mutter something quickly under their breath that will be even funnier than what you were already laughing at, and you’ll miss it because you’re LOLling at the joke before it. Season 5 has entire scenes between characters where every line is a joke.

Jeff and Troy's dialog on the pitch is one of those jokes that makes me giggle every time! Also did you notice that Abed really layed low this episode? ;)

"A life of disillusionment and depression begins on the other side of that door." Hey, man, is this your first pep rally or something!?" Favorite line in the episode, SO clever. Though the talk on the football field was also really good. And "Is that linebacker a pregnant woman?" "Look, you can meet them later." And I love the Human Being. It's like if a horror movie monster was just too dorky to hang with the other monsters. You just know the other monsters would laugh at it, you know?

​@@RamblersInc why do we do this to ourselves? I just googled it and read the wikia entry about it. I don't care if this counts as a spoiler: the Greendale Human Being doesn't turn into this. Unless something happens in season 6?? I haven't seen that one. 😱

I always forget how terrifying the first introduction of The Greendale Human Being is until new reactors see it 😂 The Dean's approach to inclusiveness always makes it things worse and it never fails to be funny. Episodes 7 and 9 I'm looking forward to - you get glimpses into the truly off the wall chaos and revelry that is Community in later seasons. The first season does A LOT of exposition, and while still funny, the best is definitely yet to come.

@RamblersInc yeah, he's very obtuse. The Dean is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. I guarantee that you have no clue where his character arc is going and I can't wait to see it!!! I'm just going to plant this seed because I missed a lot my first couple watches, but if you ever see Dalmatians in connection with the Dean, possibly in the background, just make note of it. It hasn't started yet but there will be an eventual payoff LOL

The mascot gives off Slenderman vibes. I only have a passing awareness of the creepy pasta or meme or whatever it was before it was turned into movies and then connected with gruesome real-life events. I just googled Slenderman now and it looks like it appeared on the internet in 2009. If Community season 1 aired in 2009, they filmed it before it was a thing. Unlike Slenderman, the Greendale Human Being makes me smile.

Read a bunch of Clavell’s books including Shogun when I was in middle school / early high school. Superb if lengthy books. This is a very good adaptation. The details are remarkable, including apparently using a feudal-era dialect of Japanese that even the Japanese actors had to learn. “Catholics have done a number here - haven’t they?” Never underestimate the Jesuits. Ever. I say as a graduate of a Jesuit law school. Correct re; Portuguese to English. Nobody in Japan spoke English. It gets better as it goes - the viewers’ understanding increasing as Blackthorne’s does.

I've noticed there a few syllables at the end of most sentences that Mariko says that sound similar too each other. kind of sounds like "...masuroo". I don't know whether if it was a polite way to end a sentence back then.

For ours as we have really bad memories. I think this might be one show where the recaps may not need to be as long. Will try to make them shorter reminding ourselves of what happened.
