Only a xr650r could be over twenty years old and look and sound this good. And keep going up in value. How could it possibly get better large Rads and a large Caliper crf halogen headlight maybe. Lovely bike. Cheers Paul at XRs uk.

It's one of the firsts Xr's 650r 2000 model so deserves special treatment and as far as I know never been used off-road.. and so true that keep going in value 👌 thanks Paul for nice comments I have to visit your online shop again.. One of the best bikes Hondas ever made why they took it off the market is beyond me these things are bulletproof a blast to ride and who cares if it's got a Kickstart you learn the technique and you kick it and it starts so quit whining try to go out and find one of these bikes in good condition and buy it they're worth the money and they resale value is very high good luck Happy Hunting

after a while the loud xr exhaust gets to you. im going to make mine run okay with quiet insert for stock exhaust. still makes cool roar from intake sound when giving the WOT

Loud exhaust is perfect in city as we all know that "Loud pipes save lives" but even with stock exhaust XR sounds brilliant 👍

I commute all year round and usually I use different bike for commuting(nc750 at the moment), piggy only sometimes when sunny days haha Thanks for watching

It's probably best I've not got mine anymore I was looking for shortcuts everywhere 🤣 hope you've got the oversized radiators for in the town it gets hot waiting at the lights had nearly 140° one day

Does anyone know why Honda didn't export this version to North America? I have a 2001 XR650R which I street-legalized thanks to laid-back requirements in Arizona and Texas. But still, it'd be nice to have a keyed-ignition, speedometer, battery, electric start, etc. I don't get why North America's only choice for a street-legal 650 thumper is the air-cooled, steel-framed XR650L. What a waste.

Kickstarter only .. there is no electric start in xr650r

Xr650r was build for long desert races where piggy's natural environment is but even if you not Baja rider It's good fun to own this bike .. piggy as Supermoto is brilliant but as a first bike? All depends how you feel .. it's plenty of torque there 😁👌

@@biohazard8295 Kick starting is easy and you can start it in your flip flops once you know correct procedure.. if you fall over ( off road riding)its hard to start as carburetor flooded.. there is another procedure to clear it out... so as you can see the motorbikes with magic buttons/electric starter are more friendly 😉

How's the maintenance been long term? Anything weird or annoying? Also what year is it?

It's 2000 model .. oil change regularly every 1k and oil filter every 3 changes if not use offroad.. that's it

No way the speedometer is correct. Traffic is not going 140kph = 86mph. Anything over 55mph without a windscreen your chest becomes a massive wind plow. Anyway, Awesome Bike!!!!

Definitely not.. 17 inches wheel spin faster so more on the clock..

Here goes,,,, I personally couldn't think of nothing worse to commute on like sitting on a scaffolding board on a wacker plate. Sold mine before lockdown looked at loads of old abused one's but found a minter in the end never gelled with it found it disappointing. Lovely to look at great investment iconic bike just not for me.

I agree with you it's not the best bike for commuting and its so true re scaffold board 😄 I use other bikes for commuting and Brp only occasionally.. yep ..hard to find good XR those days
