@@funnymansk8zit is just the spot to remove some mortar that won’t affect the balance of the threshold. It will not crack because of a bad high point. He’d gladly make the mud perfectly even, but that is a waste of time and effort. He is a craftsman and every wasted or unnecessary work is lost money. But you can see by how many times he checks before he sits the threshold permanently, that he is a perfectionist. Most tilers would put mud in the hole and let the mallet do the rest. And it is embarrassing to get called out for a cracked threshold; it puts all your other work in doubt.

Excuse me, I know nothing of this so I want to ask, why did you remove such a big amount of that cement? It gives me the idea that it leaves a big opening/cave/pocket of air that will cause in the near future to crack the floor thing because of that space, it happens a lot around some houses and whenever it does, the professionals that come to repair always say the same thing: "They did the work bad/wrong, left empty spots and caused this." It won't crack - the gap is shallow and far from the edges. If the entire void is filled level then the threshold will likely be too high or too low.

In Brazil it is very hot, and materials expand a lot. There is no error in placing this material. Just a different technique from your country.

In realtà non si dovrebbe lasciare vuoto nel mezzo, la calce in eccesso si toglie dai bordi, quella in eccesso nel centro viene spinta sui lati dalla pressione durante la posa, evitando che la mattonella suoni a fesso. Dopo lo stucco con sabbia di lago semi-liquida riempie la parte mancante durante la stuccatura dei commenti (fughe) e tutto è completamente pieno, a livello perfetto e senza fastidioso suono di vuoto. Tra l'altro i vuoto sotto la mattonella nel centro, può rendere più fragile il marmo che avendo venature può spezzarsi o incrinarsi con la caduta di un oggetto qualsiasi

I would have measured the depth of the cavity and subtracted the depth of the tile when pouring the concrete, this was really interesting, specially the use of the strips, great work man!
