Great video James, Especially nice to see the progress on Klondike Kate. That project is starting to look very impressive. I'm getting the impression that it will be in better shape than it has ever been during its service life on the Klondike RR and the WP&YRR. I really appreciate the work being done on it. Depending on when I'll be able to be in Colorado again this year, usually around the DSP&PHS convention and Boreas Pass Railroad Day, I'll see if I can lend a hand as well during a work day in Como preceding the Convention and BPRD. At the least it's always great to see you guys again. Last but not least, a Happy (Railroading) New Year to you and Debbie, and of course the rest of the gang in Como!

I had no idea this was a thing! I've never wanted to see this place restored so bad! Wish one of the 2-6-6T Mason Bogies were still around to run on it once it's all finished.

The final surviving Mason bogie was exhibited at a college in Iowa. It was scrapped during a WWII scrap metal drive. We are restoring a 1912 Baldwin 2-6-2 Prairie type locomotive. It was originally built for the Klondike Railroad and also operated on the White Pass & Yukon as well.

@@denversouthparkpacifichistoric I remember reading about it. I just wish I had the metalworking skills (or money) to build one from scratch. The Prairie loco sounds awesome, though; Prairies are one of my favorite wheel configurations!

@@Pyrotrainthing Our 1912 Baldwin was built to Canadian specification for the Klondike Railroad. This is very useful now 113 years later as the boiler had been built to the thicker requirements of Canada. The Klondike operated in a narrow valley - no wye or "balloon" track at the end of it. This resulted in locomotives operating in reverse to complete a round trip. Therefore, this locomotive has *TWO* sand domes (one for each direction of travel.)
