Seeing the prices on the Dave Stevens stuff recently makes me so glad that I bought all his stuff I could get my hands on years ago, and more importantly that he’s getting the recognition that he deserved when he was still alive. It’s wild that you could get most of his comic work for just a few dollars a piece and all of a sudden you can’t find it for under 30. He is my favorite artist and probably always will be.
@CoMoComicBooks7 ай бұрын
Absolutely! His art just has this feel good Americana vibe to it. Wholesome and exciting with the Rocketeer, while somewhat grounded and realistic enough to really sell you on the pinup and sci-fi stuff.

I snagged the Spook 24 off Heritage in March, putting together a run of L.B Coles cheaper covers before they all take off.

Very nice! As I was sitting there scripting the video a nice raw copy sold in Heritage’s weekly auction. I thought that was kinda funny considering how sporadic PCH can sell.

Always cool lists/mini comic history episodes CoMo. X-Men 94 values always surprise me in relation to GS 1. Those two were always the same price when I was collecting in the late 70's-early 80's when the X-Men were everything. I always thought 94 was a touch more sought after, in fact, as collectors were always trying to complete their sequencing runs with 94 where GS 1 was more of a side issue.
@CoMoComicBooks7 ай бұрын
I had that conversation with someone at my show yesterday! He said he and his buddy went into a comic shop and they had a copy of each for the same money. His buddy chose one and he took the other. Unfortunately, he did not wind up with the GS1. Still loved his X-Men 94, but was bummed the values didn’t stay even.

@@CoMoComicBooks Right. First appearances were important but not so dominant as they are today. I hadn't followed the trends for decades but only started checking things out in the "boom" and was surprised at just how much more important first appearances became (especially for less than top tier characters).

Hulk #102 goes well with Sub-Mariner #1, Iron Man #1, Captain America #100, & the often overlooked Iron Man/Sub-Mariner #1 & Hulk/Sub-Mariner #1. Those crossover one-shots are often more affordable than IM #1, CA #100, & SM #1... But along with Hulk #102 I consider them essentials. Love this list!

I agree. I’ve enjoyed Clayface since I first learned of him as a kid with B: TAS. With CGI where it’s at today, I think they could likely do the character justice in a live action movie, but my concern is that B: TAS handle villains like Clayface and Mr. Freeze so well, that a lot of us have these really high expectations for the characters and how they’re handled.

If your 9.8 comes back as a 9.9 then we ALL KNOW CGC are not an honest company. BECAUSE YOUR BOOK WAS ALWAYS A 9.9 BUT CGC DECIDED TO NOT GO ABOVE A 9.8 WHEN IT WAS SUBMITTED. CGC ARE CROOKS..... JUST LOOK HOW MUCH MONEY THEY WANT JUST TO GIVE YOUR 9.8 ITS REAL GRADE. THE GRADE IT SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE HAD
