Today I take a look at the Compagnon Element backpack. It's really good with just a couple of flaws.

I agree with you regarding the straps. They look cushy, they are quite thick, but the bag becomes a pain in the shoulders after carrying it for an hour or so. I’ve been using it for one year. I like how deep it is, how much gear you can put on it, but the straps are starting to become a deal breaker. I’m currently considering selling it

the load lifters are there to keep load of the zippers though. seems smart to me even if it makes it harder to open the bag

Nice review Adam. Overall it seems like a well thought out backpack. I appreciate your candor & honesty with respect to the straps & load lifters. I do believe that Campagnon makes quality products. I may possible buy a Compagnon 11 Liter bag for an EDC camera bag. Best wishes.😊

Thanks for watching. They do make quality products, I hope that came across in the video. I'll check out the 11L

Awesome review. Compagnon just announced a smaller 20L version of this, looks much better for those who want something lighter.

I'll be looking forward to checking that out

Any updated thoughts on this bag after owning it for a while? I'm looking at this bag as well as the NYA EVO and a few others. Shimoda is often recommended too but for some reason I just can't get comfortable with their straps on either my Action X30 or Explore 35l V2.

Unfortunately no updates, it’s a good bag but I couldn’t get past the load lifter straps catching the zipper all the time. When I want a larger bag I now use wandrd 41 L and it’s pretty good. I know shimoda has several different strap designs. Have you considered replacing your current straps?

@@hasenmyer I bought their thicker "plus" straps but they didn't make much difference. I think it's something to do with the way their straps sit on my frame. I'll continue to play with adjustments and see if I can get them to be comfortable. I do have a long torso and I noticed their larger bags have an XL settings for the straps vs only up to L on the smaller bags I own. I'm wondering if that's part of the issue along with being low body fat (I find most straps uncomfortable).
