On the piracy topic. Usually if it's a video game, i pirate it first to check if my pc can run it with my current specs. If its unable to run it, I will delete it and not buy the actual game. It saves me from wasting money on games which I can't even play. Movies? ..Not so much. I think people should just watch/buy movies. Theres no 'test' like with videogames, and movies NEED the view count and the money to judge if they should invest in making a sequel.
@seigeengineАй бұрын
My take is that piracy is only wrong in cases where it deprives someone of something. If you wouldn't have bought the thing anyway, you aren't causing any harm. If you would have though, you are depriving them of something.

“Don’t use the tv’s OS” doesn’t make sense to me. The tv comes with it installed, it can’t be overwritten that I know of and anything plugged into it will always be secondary when it boots up. I loathe my recent Samsung tv OS. They’ve added so much garbage it’s the classic ‘hit the sweet spot of design and then fucked it all up again in an effort to justify someone’s paycheque’. Bloated, full of useless undeletable and unwanted crap, a million options to scroll through before hitting the settings you’re likely to want, stupid app-specific buttons on the remote that - when bumped by accident - cancel whatever you’re doing to load the stupid app. Ugh.

This semester we're using English books for some modules and all of them have a huge batch on them saying "international student version" and on the inside it says that you're forbidden to bring it out of the country it has been exported to. Reason: US version is a lot more expensive (I forgot how much exactly but a lot) Also we get them for three in our uni's library, like isn't that what you pay fees for (not that you really pay any in Germany...)
@justsomeguy5103 Жыл бұрын
The International Editions I've used simply say "not for sale in the US", not that you cannot ship it elsewhere. In any case, US students are really getting screwed over on that one. On the bright side, the ban on sale in the US isn't actually enforceable according to my research, so students in the US can (and should) use grey-market international copies where available.

(5:50) Some terms in EU are protected, and you can't call your product that thing unless it is that thing. But some terms are not protected, but I think some should be for the sake of consumers. (13:50) That's why I think Microsoft does it better, and it really should be a legal requirement. If you purchase a digital product that you "own" (i.e. you don't pay anything to use it as much as you want), that product should never be made unavailable to you as long as the service is running. If the service shuts down, oh well. But if the license runs out, they should still be required to offer you the product ... as said, this is how it works on Xbox for example. If a license runs out, you can still use it, and still download it again, but only with the account you purchased it with.

9:00 You use bluetooth earbuds. Which are disposable, non-repairable, and 20x more expensive. Congrats. I have wired earbuds that are over 15 years old. Bluetooth earbuds are physically incapable of surviving that long because the batteries are designed to self destruct. Not to mention that bluetooth as a standard is AWFUL. It adds loads of latency, and cannot transfer enough data for a lossless quality signal. Even the most advanced bluetooth transmitters/receivers don't operate nearly at the same quality as a 3.5mm jack. You're the one who lost by using Bluetooth earbuds.

@@evan there are many interesting things to look at, such as labels promising that grass-fed beef is sustainable even though a Harvard study states there is not enough land to scale it up to consumer demand, free range labels implying that the animals had a good life even though they're being mutilated (beaks, wings, and tails trimmed), and the euphemism of animals being 'stunned' even tho the stun gun is similar to a precise blow to the head with a hammer, just to name a few. In 2018, we implemented a new animal welfare law in Luxembourg. Recently, it came to light that since the new law had passed, 13k cows and pigs were euthanised due to the poor conditions on our farms. Those numbers were revealed four months after farmers launched the new 'fair meat' label with the slogan 'fair to the farmer, fair to the animal'. The numbers are astonishing, but keep in mind that Luxembourg has a population of only 600k. Imagine the situation elsewhere.

If the Natural sugar is a UK packaging, I think that IS illegal, as we have a list of words that have a specific legal meaning when it comes to products for sale, and I'd be amazed if "natural" isn't on that list. So selling an artificial product labled as natural would more than likely breach the trade descriptions act.

Evan, that pingpong thing is a series! I am forgetting the other ones, i think some were horrible scroll options, volume options, more unsubscribe/close options, and i saw one recently that was phone numbers! Essentially, one was a random number generator that said "Is this your number?" and you had to say no until it showed your number. Another you had to go up 1 diget at a time, but like, in single units, so to get the number 100 up took 100 hundreds clicks, so a 7-8 didget number would be 7-8 thousand clicks. There were so many! So yeah, thankfully not real, just sorta memes of how awful things could be haha
