So happy to see Sophie Thatcher getting more recognition especially for a lead role. I've been a fan of hers since Yellowjackets which everyone who loved her right now, should really stick out to see that series. Season 3 is coming out next month so it's pretty exciting Keep an eye or her, she's gonna rule Hollywood in the next 10 years or so. She's easily one of the most promising young talent working today

I agree on the first act. I thought it was genius how much double speak and little throw away lines they used in the first act that eventually had completely different meanings and connotations once we figure out where the movie is going. One of the most fun movie experiences I've had in theaters in years

I was interested when I saw the trailer a few weeks back. Being a huge Jack Quaid fan, I was already sold on seeing it just for him. Saw "Companion" today. Several twists that keep you guessing. Movie flew by, and I enjoyed it. 31 January today. It "saved" my month, because there were some real stinkers on the screen the last 30 days.

Watched this yesterday and loved it. To be honest if I hadn't seen the poster it wouldn't have registered for me to watch when I was going through the cinema listing's. Then when watching it I hated knowing that twist. Catch 22. Loved it nonetheless

15:00 Okay, don’t ask where I got this idea from because it’s been while since I watched the teaser trailer, but for some reason I thought the twist was that she was a human being forced to be a robot and was being held hostage as a love bot or something 😅 That’s why the premise of her being a bot never phased me when I saw it in the marketing. So for me it was a ‘is she, isn’t she?’ thing. And that thought process really paid off during the first act for me 😁 I think it’s because in the very first teaser all we got was the scene of her being on fire and she could clearly feel it, but she couldn’t do anything about it. And that teaser is all I saw, I avoided all trailers and everything after that because I don’t watch trailers anymore 💀
@JenMistress11 күн бұрын
This has to rank up there on your best segue into the sponsor promo I've seen you do yet. 😉 As for this movie, yeah, me knowing Abigail was a vampire I don't feel hurt my experience of it all, still greatly enjoyed that movie, and sounds like I may enjoy this one as well. So sure, I'll see about checking it out. Enjoyed your video. Thank you, Cody.
@EthanAschemeyer11 күн бұрын
Cody I completely disagree with you. I think the movie would've been much better without the reveal that she's a robot in the trailers. I think the filmmakers didn't intend on audiences knowing that beforehand because they subtly hint at it throughout the first 30 mins and then build it up as a giant reveal/twist going into the second act. I really wish I got to experience the excitement that I could tell other people in my theatre had when it was revealed that she's a robot.
@JV-gp9eg5 күн бұрын
I'm one of the few who got the reveal during the movie and I agree. The breadcrumbs get bigger and bigger in the first act until the reveal. Had I known the twist the first part would have lost a fair bit of its appeal. I'm sure it holds up on rewatch but glad I could get the surprise on first viewing
@JuanVerduzco_9211 күн бұрын
The only trailer I ever saw was the one where it shows Huey cooking her dinner and then shows her chained to the chair then just shows the title card. So I’m glad because I didn’t even know she was a robot till we were watching it.

Luckily I wasn't spoiled going into this movie and enjoyed it immensely!! Not knowing anything going in, Iris did seem weird or off at the beginning, but a person being socially awkward, especially when she is with her boyfriend's friends who may not like you very much, made sense to me. I did think her "weirdness" would be what led to the end, since they tell you at the beginning what will happen between Iris and Josh. I absolutely did not guess the truth and am glad I didn't know!

If you love Sophie Thatcher, as do I, you have to watch Yellowjackets. It's an ensemble cast so she's one of many stars in the show but she's so damn good in it. I completely agree. It’s funny how the marketing is so controversial with this movie because I unintentionally kept going to the bathroom when the Companion trailer played when I went to see other movies but I knew that I wanted to see the movie, and of all the ways the plot point could’ve been spoiled it was my dad. Like Cody it ended up not being a big deal because that plot point is revealed early on but it’s funny how close I came to going in blind

After the first 10 seconds of this review, I stopped. That was enough for me to go out and see this. I'm back here after seeing the movie. I knew almost nothing about it and hadn't seen the trailer. I'm not sure if I'd seen the poster, but somehow I did know about the main reveal (20 minutes in). As you said, it doesn't really spoil the movie as it's revealed early, but it would've been fun to experience it blind. From the reaction of the 3 girls behind me in the cinema, they didn't have a clue. I'm so glad I didn't see the trailer though as it gives away WAY too much. Not so much the exact plot, but if you've seen the trailer you can see so many more things coming, including character deaths.
@owennorkett66709 күн бұрын
just got back from seeing this with a group of 5 other friends and it was a blast. about half of us went in knowing *that* spoiler revealed in the second trailer/poster, and we all agreed that we would've definitely appreciated the movie's first act a little bit more not knowing that reveal, but we all agreed that it didn't ruin the movie for us at all. still wish the promos didn't spoil this at all, but it was the most fun i've had in a theater in years if not ever despite that.
@gdmav77752 күн бұрын
I think one thing about this thats worth discussing from the marketing point.... The poster did ruin that Iris is a robot. But it didnt ruin that she doesn't know she is a robot. Which was an interesting plot point... I dont know if trailers ruined that, i didnt watch any

Surprisingly, I managed to go into this movie almost completely spoiler-free, which made some of the twists genuinely unexpected. I didn’t find it all that funny, not that it needed to be, but there weren’t many laughs from me or the audience, aside from maybe once or twice. For some reason, I expected not to like it, but I actually enjoyed it in the moment. That said, I’m not sure it’s something I’d rewatch, but I’d still give it a solid rating.

My personal recommendation as someone who has seen this film is to go in knowing as little as possible. I did not watch the trailer and thank goodness for that. Without giving anything away the first few minutes of the film left a bad taste in my mouth. I think the cast and humor are what make this film special. There are turns many will not see coming and give the film extra personality. I would recommend people watch this film.
