I still remember hearing this for the very 1st time in ‘97. It was a very similar experience to hearing Ultramagnetic MC’s ‘Critical Beatdown’ for the very 1st time in the late ‘80s. It was like getting transported to an alternative futuristic Hip Hop dimension, where only a very select few have the ability too transport you to & both are underground ‘true school’ classics that still sound as fresh today as they did when they first came out.

One thing that fucks my head up is like... we all know DOOM. Something he's known for is sample choice and production. Unless Google is wrong, this album came out 2 years before Operation: Doomsday. Is El-P literally the most underrated producer and emcee of such weird hip-hop as is highlighted on tracks like "Help Wanted"? Was his Co Flow pioneering shit overshadowed at all by DOOM coming along right after and being at least equally pioneering? I think maybe. And this is indeed a hot take

I dont agree with that. El-P and Co Flow were well notarized on the same level in the underground as MF DOOM if not more Def Jux was a huge thing. Run The Jewelz is basically now the biggest rap duo.
