Boy, that brings back memories. My first ever "portable" computer. It was top of the line in it's day. 👍

Certainly was! A 286 luggable? I was still using a C64 when this came out.

Eric, Brings back a lot of memories. I recently retired but when I started my job over 35 years ago, my company had three of these. I remember playing dos games on them when nobody was borrowing them for actual work.

They had some cool games for this era. Mostly text, but still fun to play.

Don’t ask me why, but I still have dos 6.2 on floppy disks as well as Windows 3.1. I don’t have a computer to use them on but I have them.

I remember these! They were heavy. But they sold well back then! Cool find. Oh my gosh, I remember that game. Played it a lot when I was still in the Army on one of their HP computers. lol. We also had a Trek game that plotted results on an enourmous plotter. This was in 1982.

Bought an old "luggable" for $5 at a thrift store back in the 90's. No hard drive in it, had to scrounge up a DOS disk to get it started. Love seeing this video

Wow. It looks like the first computer I used in my 4th year at RRMC but without a hard drive, just 5 1/4 floppies back then in '83 (10 pages/floppy). Wordstar 2000? was the program and it was a pain compared to today lol. I did all my essays on a computer like this. There were only two for all of us and I was the only one to use them. Before this computer we all were taught basic and running programs on ye olde punch cards and readers. Like lighting fires with sticks back then with computers compared to just flipping a switch today.

That was my plan for this one, but I just got tired of tearing into it. Maybe I'll get a Tandy 1000 HX and mess with it instead.

Great old boxes that aged very well. But I can't help wonder what is so special about that N key? Was it touched the most? The least? Did someone have sunblock on and touched every key but the N? Is it the sacred key that, if pressed in the right sequence, unveils the universal primordial fabric of all matter? Do tell the story of the N key. :)

What was that old machine I hooked up to an old b&w tv? An "epson" or something, I never got a commodore, but much later on I did have one of the IBM versions of that machine, but we had hot rodded it, and I have no idea what board and components we put in that old case. My first real working pc was a 286 with a meg of ram, and I wanna say a 20 meg hard drive, cost like almost 4k back in the day
@FarpointFarms
@FarpointFarms Жыл бұрын
Back in the IBM XT era. You really could squease out a lot with additional cards. Mine had a ''Tiny 286" card that boosted it to a whopping 6mhz!! 640K ram, and a 20 meg hard drive. Those were the days!
