Compare files directly from Solution Explorer

Already used this, nice addition. One comment if you monitor here, using the built in VS merge tool, the left pane was locked & didn't allow editing. While this is fine for that tools original use case, the before part of before and after. However for this new use case, neither pane should be locked.

It's a great feature but I don't see any ability, other than simple cut-and-paste, to move changes from one side of the compare to the other as dedicated comparison apps provide. However, it's good to see that the views update dynamically after edits.

It would be great if you could make it so you can easily use compare with 2 files that are not in source control or in a solution. I've come to use win merge for those cases. Which as it's name implies also makes it way easier to combine the changes from 2 different files into 1.

You cannot even compare files between projects. The files have to be in the same project. :/ Edit: This is a UI problem and not a functionality problem. You can type Tools.DiffFiles and compare files between projects from the Command Window.
