I liked the simple stuff, lets just say the other stuff did my head in somewhat. I am hoping the more I watch your videos the better I start to understand Excel. I have a spreadsheet that was made by an advanced user that I want to update from 2003 version to 2016 version. It of course has formulas that I have to try and work out and not muck up.

Cool. Would you know a simple formula to compare two cells ignoring symbols without nesting SUBSTITUTE function?
@TeachExcel3 жыл бұрын
Probably the easiest solution would be to add a helper column and clean out all symbols there and then just hide that column so it doesn't get in the way of anything but still use it in the other formulas.

Thanks for the input, I'll do my best to fit those in! In the meantime, give my KZbin channel a search and if you don't find anything helpful, you can check TeachExcel.com as well. If all else fails, feel free to ask in our forum there.

I have a worksheet that uses 2 different formulas to calculate 2 different columns. I then want to compare the results of those 2 columns to see if they're the same. The compare value doesn't work because it looks like its comparing the actual formulas. Is there any way to do this? Here is a sample of my worksheet: Subscription Group PJ Age Group Current Age PJ Age vs. Current Age Birth Year D O B PJL00 0 0 FALSE 2022 5/9/2022 PJL00 0 1 FALSE 2021 10/19/2021 PJL01 1 1 FALSE 2021 7/18/2021 PJ Age Group column is calculated: =REPLACE(D2,1,4," ") Current age is calculated : =REPLACE(D2,1,4," ") PJ vs Current Age column is returning a value of False when indeed it is true

I've used this but is it possible to copy and paste cell content without losing any mixed formatting? For example, the cell contents to be copied have both a normal font e.g. Calibri but the (case sensitive) Y, l, and t are Wingdings format to display a star, spot and diamond respectively.

I'm not sure I'm following you - regular copy/paste keeps formatting usually. But you can also try Ctrl + C > Alt + E + S + T Enter.
