My ram 1500 express is probably what ur looking for it’s a crew cab with dual exhaust and 20 inch wheels so it looks the part and the interior has some options like power windows carpets power locks and on the fly 4x4. I paid 31 for it brand new ford makes something similar called the SXT package both look the part of an upper trim truck and don’t make u feel like ur driving in a cardboard box going down the road so yes they do exist.

I'd love to transplant that 6.2x10 into my 14. I love what they're doing with the inside of these trucks, but can't say the same for the outside. In my opinion they did the best on the 14-15 because they had that old school CK1500 kinda vibe like my 94 so of course I loved it, the 16-18 just looked too much, and the big chunk of chrome on the headlights looked tacky, triangle headlights in a square housing.

GM really dropped the ball with the small gas tank. 26 and 28 gallon fuel tank is not enough, especially when you tow in remote areas where gas stations are few and far between.
@sreilly
@sreilly 6 жыл бұрын
My 2016 has a 26 gallon fuel tank, and I get about 15-17mpg on the highway when towing. Although my 2003 had a 36 gallon fuel tank (which was nice), I would only get 10 mpg when towing with that truck. So my 2016 was going further with the 26 gallon tank than my 2003 with a 36 gallon tank. Although, it would be nice to have a larger tank like the Fords have. I wonder if it has something to do with weight reduction to achieve better fuel economy. You're guess is a good as mine.
@MidMoTundra
@MidMoTundra 6 жыл бұрын
sreilly how heavy of trailer are you towing on the highway? My experience towing with a 2016 5.3/6 speed/3.42 it got 9 mpg and it struggled to hold 65 up a hill with a 6000 pound tritoon boat behind it. On the highway the 26 gallon tank is perfectly fine as these trucks get good fuel economy unloaded. I’m sure GM did t for weight reduction, but seems silly that a larger gas tank isn’t an option.
@TheDaltonmichaels
@TheDaltonmichaels 6 жыл бұрын
maybe its the object your towing, its not the weight that always matters. I tow 7,000 consistently about once a month i live in the PNW very mountainous terrain , my ,,,,5.3/6 speed/3.42/4wd/crew cab,,,, got 12mpg pretty routinely again that's towing through the mountains. Towing a low deck car hauler and a slammed truck. truck weighs over 4k trailer should be around 3k so 7k ish. maybe more. i would get up to 15/16 mpg on the very flat areas.

Everyone seems to enjoy criticizing GM interiors and exterior so much, I'm baffled. I am drawn to the basics, a pick-up truck should have a V8 engine, or diesel engine for towing, today's pick-up trucks are now being manufacture with twin turbo charged V6, V4's, 5 years down the line, how reliable can these engines be? I'm a die hard GM fan, because GM engines are (Naturally Aspirated), No technology to create more horse power, just simple (V8) engine ability. I have the Chevy Silverado crew cab with the (5.3) V8 and it pulls wonderfully, and when it's not working or pulling a load, the tires scream when I punch the accelerator from a dead stop, a testament to what a pick up should do, In my opinion the 5.3 or 6.2 liter engine in a GM truck, is truly a mans' TRUCK!!!!!!!!! Wonderful review TFL, but remember, the average man does not want to spend a whole lot of time at the dealership trying to figure out what went wrong with one of the (turbo) ports, when he can be preparing to pull the next load with a GM truck!!!!!

Well let's be honest, Roman has clearly been a Ford guy most if not all of his life. He probably hasn't looked at all the issues the Ecoboosts have and he wouldn't risk mentioning it in a video. The 2016-17 2.7 Ecoboosts have some major problems with the heads and the 3.5 Ecoboost was notorious for stretched timing chains, cam phaser issues, thrown rods, turbo failures, misfires, etc.

The 5.3L is kind of gutless for a 2018 V8. The 2003 Dodge Hemi had 345 hp and 375 tq and 15 years later all GM can do is 355 hp and 383 tq? Yes, the 6.2L has impressive power numbers, but that 5.3L is a wimp.
@samuelclark9909

ib516 those hemis are broke down for the most part now, the early 2000s dodges had horrible transmissions, you see tons of those old 5.3s with over 200k on them still running, 355 hp and 383 ftlbtqe is plenty of power with 8 gears to go through, you don't need maximum power everyday, if you want more power get a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton truck, that 5.3 with 8 gears is plenty for the average pick up owner, yeah hemis are good engines but when they are paired to the most unreliable transmissions, what's the point? I assume the transmission issue is fixed now but idk, I worked for a company that had lots of fleet trucks it was a mixture of the big 3, and the most unreliable were the rams, they would stay broke down, the Cummins did fine, the gas trucks were horrible, we had a powerstroke that was junk you hooked a trailer to it and every time it blew the turbo, the most reliable truck they had was a 2012 4.8 liter Chevy 375k miles and the old 4 speed transmission both were original, as far as I know the truck is still on the road, and the truck is dogged, it's over loaded more than it is underloaded, plus since it has flashing lights it idles all day long except for at gas stations and lunch break, the 4.8s are the same motor as the 5.3, the only difference is the 5.3 has scoped pistons and the 4.8 has flat top pistons, if those ls motors were junk people wouldn't be doing ls swapps on everything.

The smart thing to do is to not get a 2019 ram 1500 and wait until 2021 or so when all the bugs should get worked out. I already hear common issues with the 19's like the infotainment bugging out. I appreciate that Dodge, or in this case ram is always stirring the pot in the truck market but it sadly has left the brand with a bad reputation for quality. E-torque is sure to have issues down the road as well. It just can't be perfect on their first try. I could never buy a ram with e-torque until it's well proven.

I have a 15 2500 with the 36 gallon tank. It would NEVER fit under the 1500. It would be hanging 2+ inches below the frame. They get the extra capacity by making the tank taller do to the taller frame on a 2500. Go look under one that frame is much more substantial on the 2500. The tank is about the same width and length as the 1500. Its just taller. I do agree they could get closer to 30 gallons but there is no way they are getting 36 gallons out of a single tank with the space they have. They would need to dual tank the truck. And thats going to get expensive.

Weak stats? Since when is a 12,000 lb tow rating "weak"? Weak is a bed made out of thin aluminum held together with rivets It takes time to completely redesign a truck. The 2007-2018 trucks all shared a lot of components, so GM could have a lot more of the trucks ready sooner. The 2019 truck has a totally new frame design, totally new cab, totally new bed, totally new suspension, new 10-speed, new diesel engine, new turbocharged engine, new axles made in Michigan, updated 8-speed, re-designed 5.3 and 6.2, etc. That shit takes time and money, it's not going to be ready all at once. Incomplete engine lineup? How long did it take Ford to even get a 2018 F-150 diesel out for a test drive? Where is the 2019 Ram Ecodiesel? It wasn't too hard for Ram to have more ready at launch, the 5.7 hasn't changed in 10 years and the transmission is supplied by an outside company.

Also the start comes as soon as you release the brake and it is done with fuel injection and proper ignition. You only rarely hear the starter, when the other stunt doesn't get it. I expected to hate it too, but I only turn it off for an occasional stop light grand prix.

I towed a 6000 pound trailer with it and it spent most of the time downshifting into second gear and screaming. The salesman assured me that it would out tow the Dodge with a 5.9 magnum and 3.92 gears I traded in on it, not true! I kept the GMC for 120000 miles then traded it in on a Ram with 5.7 Hemi and 3.92 gears. Day and night difference! The Ram will tow the same load on the same road in 4th gear. The GMC wouldn't tow a empty 1100 pound rampgate trailer empty in 4th gear. I have never owned a 6.2 in a GM truck but that appears to be the ticket.
