@xavierarmendariz71554 жыл бұрын
Results would be the same if played in a $100 amp, and still, most of those do sound pretty good regardless of the amp you put them through.
@pilotreg4 жыл бұрын
Imagine the amp as the cup and the bass as a sponge filled with water and the larger your skill level the more you can squeeze from the sponge to the cup. The better the amp the larger the cup, the better the bass the larger the sponge and larger your skill level the more you can squeeze from the sponge to the cup. If you can squeeze more water from the sponge than the cup can hold your amp is restricting your full potential, if there's not enough water in the sponge the bass is restricting you and if there's too much space left in the cup and there's still water in the sponge you are set and / or practice more. Cables , effects peddles and other gear can help you aswell of course.

@@jeffreylarson7646 I personally like the dark to light differences with the Indian Laurel, which is funny because I ordered a custom pick made of the same wood and the fretboard looks tons darker. Something about bright colored basses with equally bright wood for the fretboard has visually displeased me. Anyways, I love my slick silver squier and half-step versions of songs sound great on it. After I fixed the intonation I can't say the difference was mind blowing, but that's probably because I've stuck with the default strings since I got it for Christmas. The Squier Jazz is a traditional Jazz Bass. What more "features" does it need? It has all of the features any traditional Jazz Bass has. Also, it isn't that much more expensive than the Harley Benton - it's just 50 bucks more. You can't really get a much cheaper bass than that - it's actually one of the cheapest basses out there from a "proper" brand (not a store brand like Harley Benton). Can't really comment on the quality of that particular instrument, but your criticism of it just didn't make much sense to me.
@dezsodebreceni48294 жыл бұрын
-better quality pickups -better quality tuners -more consistent quality -better body wood I think these can be improved. See the Harley Benton JB-75. It's cheaper but much better than the Affinity. Roswell Alnico V pickups, ash body, good tuners and consistent quality
@rodshop58974 жыл бұрын
MaggaraMarine , I agree. I have exactly that Squier Jazz and I tested it against several Jazz basses at the shop when I bought it. I think Patrick is not being entirely fair. My bass plays great, has plenty of punch and output, almost no hum when soloed, balances great, stays in tune and fits well when I have it strapped on or sitting. Plus I only paid $200 for it, so hardly any more than the PJ that was featured first. I thought that one had a worse sounding bridge pickup than the Squier.
@rodshop58974 жыл бұрын
@@dezsodebreceni4829 I realize we are only sharing opinions, and I'm no "Fender Fan" but I don't understand your complaints. I have this exact model and color Jazz, and don't understand what you are thinking that this bass fails against? The pickups sound good, and I thought the bridge sounded better than the HB in this vid. The tuners are stable and have good action. Quality is good throughout, holes drilled accurately, good fretwork, no paint blemishes. Wood is painted, so wood quality is irrelevant on an electric instrument. I've not played the Harley Benton JB-75, but from this video, I didn't think it was really any better, and it's only $44 USD less than the best prices for each. Granted, if you want a PJ instead of a J, get the JB-75, but for a Jazz, this one is pretty nice for the price.
@christopherkaesemeyer15754 жыл бұрын
Well, just a guess but he was at Thomann which hb is their brand so maybe that has something to do with it? Idk I liked the jazz bass the best.
@leoglasmeyer28534 жыл бұрын
@@rodshop5897 so i'll give you the bridge pickup having more punch in the squier, but the price difference is actually 70 USD and the harley benton has better body wood, tuners, saddles (brass) and overall fretwork and playability. So in the end these two are still better than all others from the video but i think even if the difference is not huge, harley benton has clearly many more advantages and only one disatvantage; the bridge pickup (which you could well cover with $70 spare ).

Hello Patrick, the first one is the best, hands off.

The pickguard on that first Harley Benton is NOT turquoise. 😉

Honestly, the affinity series is decent, I wouldn't recommend gigging one (excluding the 5-string jazz), but they're excellent for early days/writing etc

My former bass player got the black HB. It's kinda nice but tbh. I definitely enjoy the jazz and percussion basses more

Do you mean precision?
@bergglobus24285 жыл бұрын
@@philipm3173 no, dude, I literally mean slapping a Jazzbass with a drumstick, so you get the best combination of a rhythmic and melodic instrument, that human could think of. (And btw. I patented this technique, so if you're going to steal it I'll definitely sue you.)

These things are so subjective,I learnt on an 80s Squier Jazz and now nothing compares to that super slim fast neck 38mm nut width,I’d love to have one of those Harley Bentons but I know I’d hate the wider deeper neck,so it would have to be the affinity and put some better pickups in later down the line.
