A bit of a correction: The CSB does not merely drop the H, but is a revision of the HCSB. For instance, the CSB moves away from the HCSB's frequent use of "Yahweh" in the Old Testament and the rendering of "doulos" as "slave" in the New Testament. The CSB was first released in 2017. The HCSB first came out in 1999.

I am an unashamed CSB fan boy. The translation reminds me a lot of the 84 NIV but is maybe a little smoother. I have three of these study bibles and by far my favorite is the plain old CSB study bible. It's really solid. The Spurgeon and the ancient faith bibles are cool but in my experience were more of a novelty than actually helpful but your mileage may vary. Great video, thanks.

I love the CSB translation. I wouldsay it's my favorite after the KJV and the NKJV. I love that they have the Old Testament quotes in the New Testament in bold typeface. And I love how they have their maps on non glossy matte paper.

You were asking about any Spurgeon commentary beyond The Treasury of David and the closest I have seen is a book published in 1997 by Hendrickson called "Spurgeon's Sermon Notes." It is as close to commentary as you are going to get on about 250 or so different Scriptures. I'm fairly certain they are out of print, but there are plenty around. I got mine second hand for $8.00 and paid less than $2.00 for a second copy at a thrift store for a friend. I really enjoy it and am always pleased when he has notes on something that comes up in the lectionary.

Thanks for the comment. I remember that book. Someone else said he wrote one on Matthew which I've never seen.

The CSB has so many great study Bibles. An honorable mention is the Holy Land Illustrated Bible, it has four or five times more color pictures than any other Bible on the market, and the pictures go along with what you’re reading so you really feel like you are in the lands of the Bible while reading through the Bible, it is an amazing Bible. I have the Tuscany leather soft cover so it looks really primo.

Im torn between the CSB study Bible and the NLT illustrated study Bible. I love both translations. I would consider the SRT Bible more of a devotional than a study Bible.

Honestly, it's kinda weak. I use it rarely, but use it to spend two hours hunting down the citation just to realise in context, it wasn't much clearer or useful.

CSB Rainbow Bible The Holman Rainbow Study Bible has new study features found in no other Bible. This is the first and only Bible to aid the reader by color coding every verse of the entire Bible and by distinguishing with Bold Underlining all spoken Words of God (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit throughout the text.

I don't have, or want, any Bible targeted to women. When I buy a Study Bible, I look for word interpretations, many Scripture references that help support one another, some character information, maps (I love maps), etc. I also like a great Concordance/Index. I have the CSB Rainbow Bible, which attracts glances when the person sitting next to me in the waiting room sees what I'm reading, and the color coding too. I don't actually consider that a Study Bible though. Out of the ones you showed, the CSB Study Bible is my favorite. My number one choice is still the ESV Study Bible, but that's probably in a different video?
@BestBibleCommentaries3 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for the helpful comments. I have shown the ESV Study Bible in previous videos and have another planned for the near future. It's a great resource, which I have used extensively and it's probably my wife's favorite, too.

I dont expect you to have this but i got my wife a csb women’s study bible and it has a lot of good notes and articles, much more like a traditional study bible. I even skimmed through it and found a not about a. Women that had like 2 scriptures dedicated to her, (dont remember at the moment) but basically she protected someone that was in the genealogy of the Messiah.

I just quoted a Kelly Minter article from that Bible this past Sunday. My wife bought the CSB Women's Study Bible and I just happened to pick it up last week in the early stages of my sermon prep.

Why do Bible (and other book designers) always assume women want a bunch of flowers everywhere?
@BestBibleCommentaries3 ай бұрын
Ha, good point. I don't recall Men's Study Bibles having hammers or fishing poles on them, but the men's ministry at my church uses imagery like that and I don't relate.

A very cursory review that doesn’t even mention the name of the Ancient Faith Study Bible (last one shown). Nevertheless as someone who has 5 of the 6 mentioned I appreciate the wealth of CSB line being mentioned. The CSB Illustrated Study Bible is excellent (top 5 for me) and the Ancient Faith Study Bible is very interesting to read. As a Spurgeon fan the Spurgeon Study Bible was less than I hoped for but still enjoyable. The Holy Land Illustrated Bible (not shown) is one of the best of its kind and the He Reads Truth Bible is somewhat superior to the She Reads Truth (strangely and sadly). There are several other CSB Study Bibles as well such as the Apologetics, Worldview and Life Connections. The CSB is a very good translation with a variety of products that people are still catching on to. It’s not a “Baptist translation” as some liberal critics have tried to imply though most Baptists would be quite comfortable using it. It really balances understanding and accuracy better than many other options out there.
@timothycunningham39833 ай бұрын
Non of these Bible translations are the best. NASB MacArthur study Bible is the best of all translations and study bibles. It covers more and has better understanding in commentaries.
