With the basic redarc control on dash say turn it up a bit when on the highway so if van starts to sway you tap the brake pedal slightly shouldn't then van brakes come on a bit first so it slows down to stop the sway , would that help 🤔 just remember to back it off a bit when town and city driving

No no no no no. Do that and your risk of spinning out increases drastically. Have had it happen right in front of us when we’ve been pulling the van. Was able to witness first hand what happens if you touch that brake pedal. Have had ESC for 10 years and will never have a van without it. Ford even recommend not using their sway control if you have ALKO ESC on your van, it’s that good because it pulses on all brakes on the van taking the human error element out of the equation.

Is it correct that with Disc Brakes you can't use one of these stability control units?

Is there much price difference between the 2? Can it be self installed? Thanks

Probably. The wiring is very basic with just one wire to each wheel and two wires for power. Between the sensor and the controller is precabled, just mount the units.

@Handleyman awesome. That pretty much answers everything 👍

The ALKO doesn’t lock wheels up. That’s rubbish. It pulses on brakes and the overwhelming amount of pulses you cannot even feel. Ten years using the Alko and I wouldn’t have felt the brakes applying more than half a dozen times and never more than a second. The other thing with the wiring is that it doesn’t need to be on the Anderson Plug. It only draws a small amount of current unlike charging your van battery off the alternator while driving.
