Comparing Avery Printable Vinyl For Light & Dark Fabrics | DIY Plants Vs Zombies Shirt With Cricut

In this video I'm doing a side by side print then cut transfer using Avery printable iron on transfers for both light and dark fabric. I'll go over the similarities and differences that I found while making these two shirts. So far they both look great but there are some make or break differences. See my previous video to find out how I made this quick and easy design using my Cricut Maker and an png file bundle that bought on Etsy (which I'll link down below). I bought these packs at Sams Club they are found on Amazon and most craft supply store.
*** I really like the Avery transfers for dark fabric but I can't recommend the one for light fabric. After one wash the color bled slightly on the white shirt. I unsuccessfully tried to remove the ink from the white part of the shirt with Fels-Naptha soap(totally recommend this laundry bar for any other stain!!! amzn.to/3upi3FC). I rewashed the shirt and now the design is peeling off. I feel like it was too thin and delicate and did not hold the printing well. I may try to use a lighter ink setting on my printer if I ever use this again.

Hello. I was curious to know if you ever washed the shirt? If so..How did it go??

Hi! I did wash both of them a few times and the transfers for dark fabric did get a little wrinkled but lasted. The light fabric transfer was the worst and ripped apart after a couple washes. I did forget to turn the shirts inside out and hang dry them though. The dryer is really bad for these types of transfers. If possible use the transfers for dark fabric even on light materials.

So you use the dark on white fabric?

Yes! The colors came out better and it lasted longer. Keep in mind that the dark transfers have to be peeled off the backing and placed on the shirt so it might be difficult if you have a lot of little designs scattered or if it has a really complex border. One way to make it easier is to do an offset or border around the whole design so that when you peel it off the backing it’s all on one piece. Hope that helps!
