Santiago was destroyed for months by ultra-left groups during 2019 and 2020. After that came the pandemic and it has been difficult to recover everything. In addition, many businesses are afraid of being looted again. A similar situation lived in Buenos Aires in 2001. However, during this year the works will begin to recover the center of Santiago. I hope that one day you will be able to see the clean, safe and well-maintained city that we had for many years.

Yes !! I still love Buenos Aires more / better & that's where I'd love to go to !!! Chile ,too ,though ! But,my No.1 pick out of South America, it's always been Argentina 🇦🇷!!! Argentina has always been my No.1 football country since 80's I was a kid watching Mario Kempes on tv 📺 in Tokyo ! I love Argentine Tango, too !! I am a long time vegetarian & that was my worry visiting there to find restaurants had vegetarian/ vegan dishes, guess what you guys have more vegans than here in the States !!! I live in Los Angeles like this lady on this channel !! I was very shocked !! Lol. I didn't know Argentina was this beautiful !! 😍 Silly me ! Argentina 🇦🇷 is one of my top 3 favourite countries !! They recently stopped doing the conversion in Argentina, I used my credit card and they charged me the same as if I had used cash. They do take credit cards in most places in Buenos Aires. But really easy to carry cash also, and it's much cheaper than anywhere in Latin America.

Great take on both cities! As an Argentinian & digital nomad, I'd say you need to try other MUSTS options besides Buenos Aires in Argentina (seeing that you already went to Patagonia): Salta/Jujuy/Tucuman on the northwest. Completely different experience in food and landscapes Mendoza: Amazing Wine & Mountains If you have extra time, you should also try: Rosario - it's a 3:30 hr drive from Bsas. 3rd biggest city in the country, laying by the Paraná River. Great food and nightlife. Córdoba: 2nd biggest city and 1 hour internal flight

@@SheRunTheWorld Absolutely! Went to Salta Jujuy July last year, and it was good for work. Salta is a big city itself, you'll find lots of good Airbnb options. Jujuy is more of a scape to appreciate mountains and landscape beauty. Even so you'll find good internet at big enough towns. Mendoza, Cordoba, Rosario def good internet

Next time you go to Buenos Aires, try to visit Belgrano if you can, which is right next to Palermo, usually overlooked by tourists, but very safe and nice. Nice video!

Argentina started the MEP rate for foreign issued Visa and Mastercard credit cards back in DEC 2022. It is much closer to the Blue rate than the official government cash rate. Note that Amex does not use the MEP rate.

I’d say the second route is probably cheaper, but we work will have more locations

Liked your bit on Santiago. I agree, there is lots to do around the city. In Cajón del Maipo you have the Embalse Yeso - the Yeso reservoir/damn and La Morada park, where you can hike up to a glacier. I went to both. They also have lots of white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing etc on the Maipo River. The best place to pick up these sports/activities is in San Jose del Maipo. I have not visited Buenos Aires, but go there next month. Looking forward to it. Just one point on pronunciation - not that it takes anything away from the info you gave - but it is Ca-hon with the stress on the last syllable. Cajón is Spanish for Canyon, so likely to come across it in other places too. All the best.

Estan muy buenos estos videos de comparaciones, porque suman para todos aquellos que no pueden decidirse entre dos lugares, pero la otra cara de la moneda es que genera discordia entre los habitantes de las dos ciudades. Soy porteño y amo mi ciudad, pero tambien fui a Santiago y es una ciudad super bonita. En suma, las dos son hermosas y tienen sus cosas buenas. How did you become a digital nomad? Any advice on where to start for someone who is interested?

I had a hybrid job where I had to come in the office 2-3 times a week so eventually I just asked my boss if I could go fully remote and he agreed! So I took off to South America!! There are tons of fully remote job boards where you can look for jobs that don’t care where you’re geographically located if the first scenario isn’t an option for you!

I'm from Chile, and I just wanted to say that, first of all, I love Buenos Aires, but the neighborhoods you visited are very different in each country. Palermo is probably the fanciest one in Buenos Aires. On the contrary, in Santiago, the places you named are not so fancy but very touristy. So I think we have to make a difference there, but still, that part is not so pretty after our national protests a few years back. Saludos

Santiago people with money get out the city in Buenos Aires they stay in the city that’s why it’s cleaner and cooler I think, for me i like more Santiago because you can go outside in 1-2 hrs for surfing or snowboarding and also you have a little mountain just in the middle of the city.

If you are going back to Buenos Aires I’ll share with you some awesome places to spend the weekends near by Carmelo or Colonia in Uruguay for a foody get away San Antonio de Areco or San Pedro in Buenos Aires for having a classic Buenos Aires get away en el campo and with some Cousy colonial towns. Tandil or Cierra de la Ventana if you are looking a similar place to cordoba but closer to Buenos Aires. Carilo and Mar del Plata for an Argentinian coast get away.

Santiago charges an extranjero fee for many of the credit card terminals. My suggestion is to use an account that refunds fees for atms. I think chase and fidelity are two of the big ones.

Sadly as you well noticed, Santiago Downtown was destroyed by the extreme left. It wasn't like that before Oct 18, 2019, . It was not perfect but clean and preserved. They burned and destroyed Stgo and some regional capital cities for like 6 months. It was war zone. Super triste.

Cuando Argentina era el pais más rico del mundo en 1895, Chile estaba entre los 15 paises más ricos del mundo, superando a varias potencias europeas, lo que dices de que Chile era tercer mundo en esa epoca simplemente no es verdad... Para que mentir viejo?? A principios del siglo 20 Chile era el principal productor de Salitre a nivel mundial, fertilizante indispensable para el modelo agro exportador Argentino, lo que dices simplemente no se condice con la realidad...

El Metro de Santiago actualmente es el de mayor extencion en sudamerica, y el segundo más grande de america latina solo superado por el de Ciudad de Mexico, ademas el Metro de Santiago es el más moderno del continente americano completo, ya que tiene 3 lineas 100% automatizadas con trenes sin conductor y barreras de seguridad en las estaciones... La unica gracia del Subte de Buenos Aires es su antiguedad, pero como buen anciano solo vive de sus glorias pasadas, ya que no es ni el más grande ni el más moderno....

@@jonathansaavedra8135Cuando Argentina era el país más rico del mundo en PBI per capita duplicaba el PBI per capita de todo el resto de América Latina incluídos México y Brasil. En el resto de Hispanoamérica se enseñaba en las escuelas la historia Argentina y sus riquezas como una manera de alentarlos, de decirles si Argentina pudo nosotros también podemos, un ejemplo a seguir y admirar. Argentina terminó con el analfabetismo antes que España e Italia, por ejemplo, tiene más Premios Nobel de ciencia que España, Grecia, Portugal, China y Corea del Sur, más que todo el resto de América Latina incluídos México y Brasil. Si vos querés comparar esos logros con los del Chile actual, allá vos, repito, no es que Chile creció sino que Argentina descendió al infierno.

@@bernardocarlosblanco En Chile esta el edificio más alto de Sudamerica, con el mirador abierto al publico más alto de toda iberoamerica, ademas la piscina o pileta más grande del mundo esta en Chile, en el Resort San Alfonso del Mar en Algarrobo, creada integramente con tecnologia desarrollada en Chile por Crystal Lagoons.

Buenos Aires es incomparable a Santiago, por muchas razones, pero especialmente porque Buenos Aires es ÚNICA. Buenos Aires es la París de América Latina desde hace más de 130 años y viendo lo que ocurre hoy en París y Francia con la inmigración ilegal africana y musulmana se podría decir mejor que París es la Buenos Aires de Europa ya que hoy por hoy es más europea BUENOS AIRES que París. En cuanto al nivel de vida BUENOS AIRES siempre superó a Santiago y lo sigue haciendo hoy aún en su peor momento, ni hablar cuando éramos la Ciudad más rica del país más rico del mundo en PBI per capita.

Chile literal tiene el mejor indice de desarrollo humano de america latina, en america solo es superado por Canada y Estados Unidos... En Santiago el sueldo minimo es de $ 460.000 mensuales, que son $ 523 dolares, casi 5 veces más que el salario minimo en Argentina... Los Chilenos podemos ingresar a Estados Unidos sin necesidad de visa, justamente porque nosotros no nos queremos ir de nuestro pais... No jodas papu, hoy en dia la calidad de vida en Santiago es muy superior que en Buenos Aires...

Argentina fue el país más rico del mundo en PBI per capita en 1895/1896 y estuvo entre los 5 más ricos del mundo hasta 1946 en que el peronismo destruyó Argentina, Chile era un país africanizado hasta que el General Pinochet derrotó al COMUNISMO chileno pero tampoco es para exagerar, nunca será el país más rico del mundo en PBI per capita y mucho menos votando nuevamente zurdos y progres imbéciles como Boric.

@@bernardocarlosblanco Me refiero a como son las cosas hoy, no a como fueron hace 100 años... Hoy en Argentina la inflacion supera el 140% anual, mientras que en Chile la inflacion no supera el 6% anual, de hecho The Economist saco un articulo esta semana en donde Chile aparece entre los 10 paises del mundo con la mejor economia, y con mejor manejo de la inflacion a nivel mundial... En Argentina la pobreza es del 45% de la poblacion, mientras que en Chile la pobreza solo alcanza al 6,5% de la poblacion, dato avalado por la OCDE, organizacion internacional de la que Chile es miembro pleno. Ademas Chile lidera en las pruebas Pisa a nivel latinoamericano.

Puede ser, pero Santiago es más 'under', más 'real' que Buenos Aires, ciudad muy hecha a la medida del turista. Me quedo con la honestidad de Santiago, no te vende humo ni te chamulla. Además, en Santiago encuentras lo MISMO que en Buenos Aires, pero a menor escala. Buenos Aires, por su parte, no tiene montañas y el nivel de ecoturismo que hay en Santiago.
