Enjoyed your video. Just upgraded my Hoyt 840 Carbon limbs with a set of Wiawis-NS carbon limbs. They look beautiful and shoot well. Since I'm 60 yrs old, I don't know how many good yrs I have left so I'm going to enjoy my Olympic Recurve passion.

Mr Joe Average archer will probably never reach the standard where the limitations of the cheaper limbs will show. If you like what you are using, you will shoot better with it.

You may be surprised. A nice mid-price set of limbs feels much nicer than the cheap ones, but I can't justify the top end.

As an intermediate archer from the UK, I can honestly say that my starter wood/fibreglass SF Axiom limbs were loud and hard to draw. My Petron wood/carbons are smooth and easy to hold, despite having a higher draw weight. It was like a night and day difference.

true, ive but SF Axiom 70/38 and Hoyt 900cx 68/40, SF make me pain at shoulder muscles, but hoyt not make it, really gone. And not a question why i can hold 5-10 second full draw with my hoyt.

Appreciate the breakdown of each set of limbs! Probably the most straightforward and understandable comparison I've seen about target recurve limbs.

Currently I use limbs from Mybo. Budget limbs at £65 compared to their carbon limbs for £200 maybe when I reach my optimum poundage I might decide to splash out on the more expensive. I can imagine it's with most things. The more you spend the higher the quality. But for the level I'm at. I'll stick with the "budget" limbs.

@@chrish6734 to be honest with Covid, archery clubs were shut down and I haven't been able use my bow for over a year. I still used the Mybo Limbs on my Mybo Elite, but I bought a RCX Black, the complete kit shortly after and used that as my main bow. Could tell the difference in quality but not as forgiving when you make a mistake.

Try doing a more valid comparison cheap carbon vs expensive carbon. Glass is heavier so will shoot a little slower than carbon fibre ..... Don't blame the wood .. My wiawis one wood core are as fast trough the chrono as yours . ps wood cores are NOT more likely to twist ! or vary with weather .. apart from anything else they are encpasulated in epoxy resin and lacquer! Ask Border Archery they make wood and carbon core and they perform within 2 fps and the difference is purely weight of the limb . Some of us prefer the draw and feel of wood core .. and 2 fps is neither here nor there

Great review. The clickerzone is crucial. I got the premiums and a pair of fibre/foam. Both are stacking up in the zone at 28" marked 36#. Draw curve on both are like bananas in the end reaching 48# at 33" draw. It realy shows money matters to get a nice feeling in clickerzone.

Hi Steven, I have been shooting since the 1970s off and on, and have always had good equipment, Starting in the 1980s with a Yamaha, then moving to a Greenhorn, and a Stylist, I now have a WNS elite alpha and due to serious medical issues, I can only shoot 20lbs! I am hoping to restore my strength, so until I get to the level I am happy with, I will stick to the premium limbs! Then when I get there I will reward myself with that beautiful Fivics EX! For all the bows I have had, I have never noticed any shooting difference other than with wood limbs, when the light goes down, you have to click the sight down!

Isn't the draw feel difference coming from the difference in core? Every foam core Limb I've tried has had that solid feel from the beginning, whilst the wood cores have that gradual build up. Might be interesting to test high end wood for limbs and see if they follow this trend

I have to make a point here. You compare limbs that have been shot in over two years, to brand new out of the box limbs, that have NOT been shot in. You do make a fine point that the difference in speed is next to none, leaving the conclusion (for me at least), that you get very little, for the last 850 dollars.

I shot cheap limbs when I started and now shoot hoyt carbon x tours. Honestly I noticed a huge difference in stacking. I think if your draw is in the 28" range the difference would not be big but mine being almost 31" it has made a big difference in how I shoot.

@kinzokushirogane1594
@kinzokushirogane1594 5 жыл бұрын
From what I've read that, expensive limbs are just more linear in terms of draw weight and don't stack. So yes if you are shooting thousands of arrows a week it might be more comfortable to use the more linear limbs
@MrKzauner
@MrKzauner 4 жыл бұрын
if your draw cycle is not consitant the chrono is more likely giving you a reading of your inconsistancy which is affecting the arrow speed not the difference in the limb performance

At the end of the day, the expensive limbs won't make you hit that bullseye. What we're hoping for is to have more consistent groupings. That you WILL get with better limbs IF your issue is that your limbs are messing you up.. how often is that the case? 🤔

Hi Steven, I enjoy your video reviews very much, so thanks for taking the time and making the effort! I notice that when you release the string your fingers look to "flick" open, almost as if it`s a deliberate movement rather than just relaxing them to allow the string to pass through them which shouldn`t result in them straightening out. Do you feel your release needs some adjustment or are you happy with it?

Hello. I'd still like to ask. How big of a difference there is between fiber/wood limbs vs. carbon/wood limbs? I'm torn between WNS AXIOM Alpha Fibers vs. WNS 2018 Alpha Carbons. I defininitely can't afford foam libms right now but if the carbons would be worth it I'd be willing to spend bit more. Thanks in advance.

Yes I accept that the limbs will perform better than cheap ones, but let me tell you I compete at my club and I use the cheapest limbs going, and still out shoot most others, and I shoot bare bow. no matter what limbs you use, if you can get a good group on the gold then there is no difference in performance, I suggest you stick to a mid range limb with lateral stabiliser in it to stop any twisting, spend no more as you just doo not need to.

I don't really agree. I've never had problems with less expensive wood core limbs. In fact, I have old one piece wood core limbs from the seventies, mostly Bear, and they are the most consistent and smoothest shooters and still going strong. Of course they weren't made in China. Which may be the difference.

I know this is an old comment, but it is real because sport is also about sport psychology. Anything you can afford to improve your psychological state, or to allay even the slightest doubt, is an advantage, even if that's the "look" of your equipment. Of course, some people are less affected by this, and some people are more affected by this. Source: myself. Shot competitively in my regional circuit for about 7 years and won about 70+ medals in that time.

"Looks play a big part with archery." Blimey how vain are some people. To me it doesn't matter what the bow looks like, it's how well the archer shoots with it. Nothing worse than seeing a novice with all the top expensive gear who can't shoot the barn door. It's the way a bow feels in the hand and to shoot not what it looks like. Going on looks alone you will have no chance. 🏹
