A very professional and informative video. I am a military veteran, and a casual gun enthusiast. I have a few guns, and I enjoy target shooting occasionally to keep my skills sharp. One thing I've noticed that a LOT of gun shops alienate their customers by having a condescending attitude that is both unprofessional and unhelpful. It is that type of attitude that keeps more folks from enjoying gun ownership. Thank you for being an exception to the rule! Now I know where to buy my next gun.

Many of the subcompact (G26, G27's, etc) Glocks had double recoil springs way before Gen 4's came out. Based on the hump you describe, I'd say it's a Gen 3.

I bought a Glock 29 about twelve years ago and was very impressed the way the spring functioned in working the slide. Especially when handloading hot 200 grain projectiles. It handled the loads better than my Glock 20. I'm surprised they decided to change the spring since the old one worked so well. The upgrades they made from the original Glock 20 were needed.

I carry a Glock 22 Gen 3 on duty and i've shot the Gen 4 before . I like the Gen 3 better because of the grip itself. The grip on the Gen 4 is way to rough and unconferrable for me as a person. But a lot of the other officers like the Gen 4 over the Gen 3. But each person is their own.

I have small hands and I use it without the extension grips. It interchangeable, so the grips will not be an issue. It made for everyone. Only thing I don't like about the gun is the the handle is to wide because of the double stack magazine and it is very hard to conceal with fitted clothing. Other than that, the gun is flawless.

I wouldn't call Gen 4's mag release "ambi", it's reversible. Ambi mag release is something like HK's paddle release, or a thumb release that you can push from either side without changing it.

Great video. When I bought my last Glock 26 I was debating between a GEN three or gen four and one thing that you didn't mention was that the gen fours come with three magazines opposed to the Gen threes only coming with two. The gen four was only about $25 more and for the money you get the extra mag and all that stuff you mentioned and it's hard to find a 10 round Glock mags for under $25 so that's what made me buy the gen 4. The extra mag plus all the features you mentioned. Not sure if all the gen fours come with the extra mags but if they do and the price is close I'd buy the gen 4 every time.

UPDATE for my erratic ejections and btf with my gen4 19 with updated spring and ejector: Glock called me and said they replaced the extractor, ejector, and trigger housing on my 19. They said they ran 500 erratic ejection/ btf free rounds (as I requested) without any issues. They said the problem is fixed and gun will ship tomorrow and should take 2 days to get to me. I sent it in on the 12th, today is the 17th. Pretty quick turnaround especially during Christmas time. If you want one go ahead and buy it, if you do experience problems, just call Glock and they will take care of you. When they tell you to ship your gun in, request that they send you a prepaid shipping label. Here is a good link that helped me write my requests for Glock to repair on a piece of paper sent to them with my gun. All your Glock Gen 4 pistol questions answered! If they don't fix it the first time then just keep sending it in until they do, or they will have to replace it. That's what I'm gonna do, say on your request paper that its the 2nd time or the 3rd time and you want to a replacement gun of your choice and your choice of date of manufacture. (more explained in link) A good functioning Glock 19 may be the best handgun/CC gun you will own. I came to this conclusion after buying a very expensive ($705 after tax) polished stainless steel CZ75b. I sold it the next day for a bit more than what I paid without firing it, and here is why. Yes it was gorgeous, all steel, and prolly was just as reliable and shot more accurately than my 19. Action was so smooth and everything about the gun was great, but it was very long, heavy, not an easy CC gun, and I already had what I needed in my 19. Did I mention it was very expensive? At least for me, I didn't need another handgun and had a lot more I could do with $700. Plus aftermarket parts would be harder to find and not as many to choose from, sights, holsters, etc. I wanted to give up on Glock after my experience but there just is no replacement for one that works the way it should. Xdm's are overpriced for what they are, M&Ps have problems of their own (jamming, barrel issues) Sigs are too expensive, so on and so on. Glock 19 just works best for me and I'm going to stick with them, and only train with this one gun unless I absolutely have to give it up , then I may sell it and get another Cz compact or something.... Go for it, most people have Gen 4's that work flawlessly. Hope my experience can help you, good luck

Is it possible to have a Gen 4 upper and Gen 3 lower on a Glock 27 but have the same serial #?? I just got it a few days ago, used from a gun shop and I'm new to Glocks. But from almost everything I seen in this video is pointing to that. I have the dual spring guide rod with the bigger end and the little hole in the end of the rod, but no replaceable grips, the same texture on the grip as a Gen 3 and it DOES NOT say Gen 4 on the slide. I'm not even finished with the video yet but I have a feeling their will be more differences.

Want to clarify. The G19 Gen 3 is not ambidextrous. You cannot switch the mag release on these particular firearms. Because it is not, using both Gen 4 and Gen 3 magazines is acceptable. If it were ambidextrous and switched the mag release button for left hand you could not use the Gen 3 magazines only Gen 4.

I have a gen 4 Glock 19 made in 2013 with the updated spring and ejector, and still get consistent erratic ejections and BTF. Limp wristing isn't the issue, I have shot a gen 3 and only this one has given me these issues. The spent casing has a slight triangular scratch on the top which , from my research, indicates that it may be hitting something it shouldn't on its way out instead of having a clean ejection out to the side. I have about 650 rounds through it and still have this problem. Glock sent me a prepaid shipping label so I am going to have to send it to them, and from what I have read on with other people with this problem, it may take 2 or 3 times sending it back before the problem is fixed or the gun is replaced completely. Anyone with any suggestions would be appreciated. I know that most of the newer Gen 4s are good to go , I must have gotten a lemon. It goes bang every time, never had a FTF but I did have a stove pipe but I had released the mag before I shot the last bullet for some reason and that's the only time it happened. Also the slide failed to lock back after the last round twice, this only happened when I filled the mag with 10 rounds instead of 15 although it could have been my grip. Almost wanted to give up on Glock after hearing this issue is present in many newer Gen3's as well, but I love the midsize so I decided to see if they could fix it before I bought another brand. Sending my 19 in today or tomorrow, wish me luck.

Hey need some help. Are gen 3s still being manufactured? And do they still use the old finish or is it the new gen 4 finish?

I have to disagree with Mr. Magill on one topic. I am currently running a gen 3 trigger bar in a Gen 4 G22. He had mentioned that they were not interchangeable. This has not been my experience.
