Comparing John Deere 140 to a closed frame 300 series witch is better???

The KT17 is an awesome engine. IF you don't have to run it across slope. I have my original 317 I purchased new with the original Kohler Series 1 motor. It does not smoke and it has not been rebuilt. It has been working 5 acres of avocados and 1/4 acre of garden since new with tiller, plow, blade, loader ("Little Buck"), 48 inch deck, and sleeve hitch that came with it. No 3 - point. My land is mostly flat but it has some hills. I check the oil prior to start up on level ground. I have a Series II in my other 317 but I treat it like the Series I and it has no problems either. So, as long as you know the limits of the KT17 it is very durable. Get it off camber with just a little low on oil and "Bang" pop goes the rod!

glad i found your channel, i got both a 317 and 140 lol perfect vid for me! thank you sir. I agree i think i like my 140 better than 317 its got a onan on it now
