From Apple's log white paper: "The Apple Log profile is a scene-referred encoding using a logarithmic curve and a wide color gamut. The purpose of using this type of profile is to best preserve video data at capture time, with minimal processing. Log captures are not intended for direct viewing, but rather as source clips used in post- production workflows, where the desired rendering look and feel are applied during color grading. These captures are characterized by a transfer function and a color space." That is why you notice their minimal processing, because they are doing minimal processing.

Seeing the thumbnail I thought this may have been bike POV footage in iPhone ProRes - I know GoPro/Osmo action do 10-bit now but I think the iPhone would make an epic POV camera for bike/motovlogging

That's a GoPro hero 10 with a 4 stop nd filter

It would be awesome to do a video on editing these pro res files on the iPhone itself. To see the pros and cons of this, and the available apps to avoid going to the computer for quick edits. Great channel!

Jeven Dovey did a good video on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q36WaHmoj6yjl7Msi=QBNxZQKIhxqM9U8N Honestly though, I think if you're just doing quick edits on your phone, then there's really no point in shooting prores. Doing all that extra work defeats the purpose of it being a "quick" edit.

Question, I recorded 4k60 ProRes onto a 256Gig thumb drive and the footage is pretty jittery when panning around. Any idea what can be causing it? I recoded 4k30 ProRes onto the device and it was super smooth.

I'm not sure, I haven't tried recording to any external storage yet. But my guess would be that thumb drive probably doesn't have a fast enough read/write speed.

I wish I had that 17 min. back in my life! No real information. I suggest you save your money and don't buy any of the iPhone Pro models.
