Hello, and thank you for the encouragement. Over the 100+ videos I made on KZbin, I found my love for living and being in the moment while raising my son and while being in the great outdoors. I may be back someday, but for now, I'm living life without the cameras. God bless.

Nice job. I appreciate the time you took to film all of this. I do have a couple suggestions though. As you probably know many choke tubes have different points of aim (like the two you tested in this video at 30yds). When comparing pellets in the kill zone it's not really fair when the center of your pattern does not hit the center of the kill zone. Instead of resighting my red dot each time I swap choke tubes, I use large white poster board paper from Walmart. It's 22"x28" for less than a dollar a piece. This lets you see the entire pattern and gives you a little wiggle room in case you shoot off of center. So when I test, I do not care where my pattern hits, I just want the ENTIRE pattern to hit somewhere on the paper. I like to see the entire pattern because I want to see how evenly dispersed the pellets are. One choke may put a few more pellets in the kill zone but if there are large voids randomly throughout the pattern I would take a few less pellets in the kill zone for a more evenly distributed pattern. The fairest thing you can do is shoot at the center if the poster board with no bulls eye or turkey head drawn on it. Then when you retrieve the paper, draw your 10" circle or turkey in the center of the PATTERN. That is how I would do it If I wanted to count the pellets in the kill zone. I prefer to see the entire pattern with a turkey head outline in the center instead of a 10" circle or knowing the actual pattern count but that's just me. When comparing two different chokes, I like to see the two different shot targets sitting side by side each other like you did at the end of the video (verses looking at one then looking at the other afterward). Also I run a bore snake through the barrel between each shot. The steps in the choke tubes can fowl up rather quickly and I'll always be hunting with a clean barrel. And I shoot at 15yds just to show how tight the pattern is at close range to know how much room for error I have. Just a couple of things I do different but nice job....

Interesting. I would suggest shooting a large cardboard, find the center of the pattern, draw a 10" and a 20" circle, count the pellets in the circles.

Always great to see reviews. I would suggest getting 3' paper at Lowe's that way you can see the whole pattern. Also try and shoot on a day with little to no wind. If that's not an option. Try and shoot with the wind to your back, so you have a tail wind instead of a cross wind. Thanks for the video's and good luck.

Great video, but not a fair comparison at the 30 yard mark. Your shot was to the right about 2 inches with the truglo. If the shot would’ve been dead center of the neck you would’ve had equal comparison like the 50 yard shot. They are both great choke tubes but your gun has to be sighted for whichever choke your using.

Great video! New to all the different aftermarket chokes. I’m surprised by the shear number of them. Is there really that much difference between a low end choke tube and a high end? They both seemed to shoot great patterns. At 35+ yards, the ability to adjust your sights/scope/red dot, and at a minimum, use "Kentucky windage" to center your pattern on target, cannot be overstressed. This is only done by shooting several patterns with your gun/choke/load and taking out shot error/flinch. If you can't adjust your sights, then you need a load that shots to point-of-aim, otherwise, pick the load that shoots the best for your hunting situation and distances.

Shoot a bigger piece of paper, put a 10" circle around the densest part of the pattern and then count the number of pellets in the 10.
@mikeskinner43884 жыл бұрын
If it had been me doing the test, on the Truglo that shot to the right, I would have shot a 2nd round to see if it patterned to the right. If the pattern had been slightly to the left you would have been close to the same hit count between the two chokes. Only my opinion
@badgiles4 жыл бұрын
I agree. As far as pattern goes they were both pretty much the same. In this case I would buy whichever was cheaper.

@Mikey-g4g4 жыл бұрын
The rest is the way to go. I just didn’t see why you, and most others, only shoot one shot. I know it can get expensive but at least 3 rounds per choke, at different targets, to get a fair test. Just like scoping in your rifle. Don’t count the pellets in the head, number of pellets in a 10” circle. Your test was better than most.
@foxhilloutdoors21344 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! What ranges would you like to see? 30, 40 and 50?
@Mikey-g4g4 жыл бұрын
To be clear, I didn’t mean 3 different distances. 3 shots per choke at the same distance. I’m a trap shooter, so when I pattern a gun, I will shoot multiple times at the same distance. The variance from shot to shot will surprise you
@nebraskaman82474 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised about the result of the rob Roberts at 50 yards. I would think for the money it would have done better.

@kykrazy60503 жыл бұрын
You need a fresh 2'x2' or 3'x3' target for EACH SHOT. With the turkey head targets you cannot see your entire pattern.
@carlbunner5515 Жыл бұрын
First time seeing this video . Pretty obvious you either pulled the gobble stopper at 30 yrds place that pettern that is right of center over turkey. what do you have ? I say you pulled the shot because at 50 you were on center. Just my opinion
@derekyates4311 ай бұрын
You shot to the right at 30 with tru glo
@rudygeorgiamulesandcountry15944 жыл бұрын
You NEED a "Lead Sled" ..... I think you need to retest @ 30 yards and fire more than one test ( like 5 ), one single shot isn't per ammo/choke combo enough . Then average them out. Its possible that you pulled the single Truglo shot to the right @ 30 yds. Place the shot to the right of the head/neck inside "your" self established kill zone, both chokes would have been close. IF ... the Truglo consistently loads the pattern to the right side, you need to know that T00 ! 30 yards is too close and 50 yards id too far, #5 shot typically runs out of energy @ 40 yards.; which is also the range that patterns typically begin to deteriorate. A 10 inch circle @ 40 yards has been the general test parameter for years. Doing this would make your test results comparable to other peoples results. Beyond 40 yards shooting at turkeys with lead shot is considered unethical anyway.
