Hey Rob, good stuff! any chance you've still got those readings of different light from NAB? :) I'd be very curious to see ... what a great idea to bring your meter to the show! :) Cheers!

Thanks for the video. Can you please make a video about the Sekonic C800 and how that works?

I am just starting into KZbin videos and also have a small room. Can I use full spectrum plants lights/bulbs or even the true white light strips by Philips Hue? I am trying hard to avoid things taking up floor or desk space. I also have a German Shepherd and like minimalism.

What’s the difference between c800 and c7000. Can c800 measure ambient light settings so I can set shutter speed and aperture or does it only measure color temp? I think the c7000 has additional benefit of being able to read ambient like cheaper light meters. Can’t tell if c800 can do this too.
@robchado11 ай бұрын
Both give foot candles and lux readings. It won’t calculate shutter speed or aperture.

@@robchadoThanks! Would you recommend the c800 or c7000? I think the c800 is enough, right?
@robchado11 ай бұрын
@@tj4000aj C7000 is specifically for industrial use. C800 is the newer version of the C700 and includes more RGB-specific metrics and TM30/SSI.

Have you worked with the Godox VL300 and measured it's SSI in comparison to these?

I haven't!

I have a questions. We use an FS7 with the 18-110 zoom. Things can look really good sometimes but a common problem is that in the shadows I get a lot of grain. How do you get rids of this grain? I heard you have to over expose than reduce in post, is that true? I'm on the point of selling it and going canon, but I know I'm not using this camera to its full potential at all.
@robchado4 жыл бұрын
In CineEI, you can rate the camera at 1000 EI which will clean up the shadows drastically. If you're on the latest firmware, there's an option to bake in the EI rating so whatever exposure index you shoot with will be reflected in post.

Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge on colour rendition. (One day I'd love to pick your brain) But anywho, I just found that the C700 doesn't have SSI, hopefully there will be more tools to be able to measure this since the C800 is a very expensive (yet worth it) tool. I might opt for one next year once production gives me back some cash flow. ... silly Covid. Anywho. Thanks again for all of your shared knowledge.

It’s been worth it for sure. I’m honestly using my C800 more than my light meter nowadays. Hopefully work picks up for you soon!
