Cool video, I have 15 on all my vehicles but thinking about 5% for my next Explorer... one thing I’ll suggest is doing the same video except in outdoor and sunny conditions.. if people haven’t had tint before I think many would be surprised at how much more light and transparent the windows are outside during the day... with this video 30% actually looks pretty dark but 30% basically has zero privacy during the day..

30% has enough privacy to allow you to pick your nose without having people three cars away pointing giggle. What are you doing in your car that needs 5% tint? It doesn't matter, it's my car. I mix. 50 front windshield. 15 sides/doors. 30 back windshield. Works perfectly. Might drop to 15 on back windshield.. might be too dark at night. One thing everyone forgets to mention is privacy inside the vehicle is increased when covering ALL windows with tint. If you leave say just the front windshield at stock then it’s way easier to see inside the car even from the other tinted windows, whereas if the front is also tinted then it’s much more difficult to see in even with only 15 or 30% tints

Its very hard to do this comparison with a gopro/cellphone style camera because they often dont allow for manual shutter, ISO and aperture, The camera automatically adjust with the lower light levels making it look as if the same/similar amount of light is being let in. You do a great job of working around this problem by having the driver side window, and the un tinted windshield in the same frame, and with the 5% tint you can see the camera struggling to set exposure for both the 5% and the 100%
@haliaeetus8221 Жыл бұрын

@Dreadlk6 жыл бұрын
Liked the video but you made one critical mistake. You had the camera set to Automatic, so it adjusted the aperture to compensate for the light changes. As you watch the 5% demo it is clearly demonstrated that the camera is keeping the final video at the same brightness. I wish you would do this over with the camera in full manual mode so that we can actually see how dark it really is.

yeah I tried to compensate for that by showing the difference in light between the nontinted front windshield and the tinted door window. I did try and just set the light adjustment but when I get in the car with 5% you literally couldn't see me, its not that dark in real life so I figured the auto light adjust was the best route for the video.

@@WindowTintingBusiness I just saw this video, I'm VERY thankful for the tint comparison as I'm getting ready to get my front windows tinted. I unfortunately just tried to do a 30% and it failed due to my lack of experience, none the less this is a great comparison but I think for you to get the best effect possible so people can see a side by side comparison you may want to tint one window with all 3 tints then the camera won't be able to compensate for all of them. You'd have to do it on a vehicle obviously so that you can show the inside and outside view, none the less I am thankful for the comparison.

In my experience the darkness from the inside is much clearer in person than a video. So for most tints it's silly to do interior vids. I get it though. So far I did 15% on the back of my Focus and wish I went with 5, lol. But I'm gonna do 30 on the front windows and the whole windshield at 50. I'm in Ohio. I don't get the visor thing. Most states permit 35% 15% or 5% is usually limo passengers. On a standard passenger vehicle 15% or 5% are referred to as "get shot" tint. That's because an officer walking up to a heavily tinted window is more likely to snap the holster or tilt release their sidearm for quick draw access. If a cop can't see into your vehicle as he approaches he has no idea what's behind the glass waiting for him That is why you will find the cop with his hand on his holster ready for a quick draw.

Dwayne Lewis the was the best price in Columbus, Oh considering quality. You always have the option of pre cut tint kits or buying rolls. Quality tint rolls are around $125 plus, so you might as well pay the extra hundred and forget the hassle. Call around your area for prices.

The problem with filming this inside the car with a cell phone is the the phone is going to compensate for the reduction in light. It'll bring the ISO and exposure levels up so you can't get an accurate view of what the tint truly looks like. Videos filmed in this format, from the interior of the car are useless.

Hey Patrick yesterday i was tinting a straight rear window on a 2017 f-250, everythin went well and clean but as I hard tooled the 1/2" dot matrix along the side of the window my film wouldn't stick. I've been told elmers and scotch glue, but the dot matrix isnt much at all. Maybe i should've sanded the dot matrix?

+Ryan Flores make sure to use a good scrub pad. Could have been oils or something to make it shine. Or you slip solution could have been too soapy. You could always try steel wool also triple zero works best for me. Thanks for watching and good luck!

Just got 5 percent except the front and back of the car. Had to drive it with the windows up for 30 miles in the afternoon. I would have laughed if I got pulled over a couple minutes after I had just taken it out of the shop. In California i can probably get away with it on the freeway but If it rains I’m probably screwed.
@Marooncords4 жыл бұрын
I used to always get 5 or 10% in Cali while I was in high school. I had more than 8 fix it tickets. Racking up 1000s of dollars. Haha I'd never get away with that in LA it's 35%. I'm in Colorado now it's 27%. I miss the10% but not worth it so hard to see and youre a cops reason to tag you.

quick question so 15 percent is obviously not blacked out you can obviously still see someone in their even at night time so how would we go from 15 down to 5 and be blacked out ? it’s not far off from each other 🤨 wouldnt you still be able to kinda see inside the car with 5 percent ?

@johntheaccountant55946 жыл бұрын
The problem with tinted windows is that there is no visibility at night; everything is a blur (especially lights of other vehicles) so makes driving at night dangerous as impossible to judge speeds and distance of otehr vehicles when using rear and side mirrors.
@WindowTintingBusiness6 жыл бұрын
Your info is not 100% accurate... Film reduces glare from lights. if the film is a blur then you're probably looking at old film.
@johntheaccountant55946 жыл бұрын
Thank you for bothering to write a comment. This film was on a Toyota car that was only one year old. It was supposedly 3M put on by the Toyota dealer at time of sale of the new car which is common in Thailand. I had never diven a car with tinted windows before and when I took the car out at night in Bangkok streets could not judge the distance or speed of vehicles (especially motorbikes that are common in Bangkok) behind or on the sides of me using the rear mirror and side mirrors. It concerned me so much that when I bought a new Toyota Pickup requested the dealer not to tint the windows. I have watched hours and hours of KZbin on the subject of Tinted Windows. I get the impression from the USA videos that for customers it is mainly cosmetic and not to be seen from the outside of the car. I understand that the car doesn't stays cool from tinted windows because most of the car is steel body so the heat will get into the car anyway (maybe take longer). Is that correct? So once the car's air conditioning is on it is not going to make much difference. Is that correct? I am looking at protection against UV with respect to the people in the car. Also does UV damage the interior of the car or is it the heat in the car when it is stationary that damages the car?
@WindowTintingBusiness6 жыл бұрын
It sounds like a bait and switch, where they tel you it’s one film but actually put another on. 3m film shouldn’t look like that new. Film ha many benefits like privacy, glass protection from breakage, heat rejection, UVA & UVB protection and a few more also
@johntheaccountant55946 жыл бұрын
Thank you once again. I wouldn't know if it was really 3M or not. I know that the Toyota dealers give it free on sale of new cars. They deducted 5,000 bt = US$166 when I requested no film when I bought the pick up truck. Labour is about US$13 per day (yes per day !) so wouldn't know what the cost of the film and materials would be to tint a saloon car. As I said I have been watching many videos and am under the impressuion that the ionly way to stop UV rays is using Ceramic and then this can be increased by using Carbon also. Is that true?
