Although this video is 5 years old now I’ve watched it a good 100 times. But anyhow Tyler I m also in Ohio and I build my own custom bikes and parts and the one thing I had a million issues with was building my oil oil tanks. They way you break everything down in this video gave me a much better understanding of how these tanks work. Oh and yes for parts I don’t build myself I turn to lowbrow for. If it’s not lowbrow or my own it won’t ever be in one of my bikes. Thanks Tyler and lowbrow customs you all are the shit!

So if I have a vented cap, do I still need to add in a ventilation line into my tank?
@lowbrowcustoms11 күн бұрын
Yes, even if your oil tank has a vented cap, you still need a dedicated ventilation line installed as a safety measure; a vented cap alone might not be sufficient to properly manage pressure and vacuum fluctuations within the tank, especially during large temperature changes

nice vid. thanks for your explanation. what i like to know is what i have to take care of if i build my own oitank for a triumph 1968 myself (fire extinguisher)

Very nice. I would have a question, I'm building my custom oil tank and would like to remove the vent line (between oil tank and engine crankcase) and use a vented oil tank cap, instead. Is this a feasible option? Thanks

Do the Triumph tanks have a return restriction to ensure pressure to the rockers?

Excellent video... everyone will tell you that their product is better. Thanks for explaining and showing why - substantially more useful. And I learned something. Thanks!

I took two fire extinguishers cut the bottoms made pretty nice looking tank but I could barely fit two quarts in there it’s definitely getting hung on the wall I won’t be able to use it , I really like the pill bottle one from you guys and if I’m not mistaken the other pill bottle tank look a lot like tc bros one , what’s the oil capacity on the one you cut !?

Great video Tyler. Very informative. I do have one question though, why not just have a vented cap instead of the internal vent pipe? I'm just starting the build of my 66 Triumph TR6R Bobber. Cheers from UK

I’m looking to experiment with fabricating. What type or grades of aluminum/steel should be used for oil and fuel?
@digschopper93213 жыл бұрын
I used 18 ga. Sheet steel. Used Lowbrow fittings.

Then where does the battery goes ?
@lowbrowcustoms2 жыл бұрын
you would mount battery on the lower frame rails of the hardtail.

Stoopid question of the day .... none of these oil tanks have a dipstick .... how to check the oil level once installed ?

we have Mooneyes and Led Sled Customs oil tanks available too with the style cap you are talking on the outside of the bike. www.lowbrowcustoms.com/motorcycle-parts/tanks/oil/motorcycle-oil-tanks.html

Nice, but i think you've over engineered this tank and this is why,the inside tubing creates a chance for oil starvation which out weighs the cooling aspect. If cooling is something you want to incorporate build it out of aluminum. Food for thought.
