I am sad to say that when I first saw the Fashion Friends, I immediately recognized the Effner smiling sculpt face mold. I was convinced that the Ruby Red company had pirated the sculpt from Effner. I remember being thrilled to discover within a couple of days that it was actually a partnership between Ruby Red and Effner.

Ruby Red factory is the one that produces the vinyl little darlings for the Dianna Effner company so I think it's really cool they did this collab

I like both dolls a lot. I have to say though I’d opt for the cheaper one cause I think she’s just as cute and she has the jointed body. These dolls are so similar I can’t see for myself spending more on the little darling, when I can get something just as cute imo for a lot less. However, I can appreciate art and I can understand why someone would spend more on the little darling. I might eventually get one of each, I’m not sure yet, so far I just love the ruby red fashion dolls a lot.

Great comparison video , ive just recieved my Ruby Red Hanna doll after watching your videos, i couldnt resist 😁 but dont you think the Ruby Red vinyl is really grey looking ? Im hoping to customise doll so will have to try and neutralise this 😖

I don't think she actually looks grey but just in comparison to the other the tone is different and it is more grey, if that makes sense

My Bella does have a gray cast. I just pretend she's got a suntan or has a dark complexion. But I also have Sara and Stella and they don't have that grayish look.

I don't have a Fashion Friends doll (I have a Wellie Wisher) but their Facebook page often shows outfits on both them and Wellie Wishers, and the fit is perfect. Pixiefaire, the doll sewing patterns company, has many patterns that will fit both dolls.

@@karenstimson2683 I find that they will fit each others clothes, but there will be something that doesn't work perfectly. I buy patterns from Pixie Faire and I've used Wellie patterns for the FF dolls because in the beginning there were no FF patterns. I found I was having to alter certain areas and I wasn't big on having to do that. Now that they have both I buy Wellie patterns for my Wellie and use FF patterns for my Fashion Friends. Sometimes the patterns actually are designed for both in one pattern. When you use one of those you get to see there is a difference in their bodies.

They're pretty rare, but after finding a nearly mint My Friend Huggles, I'm never saying never about thrift stores. They're a little taller seeming than American girl because of their proportions, but I think actually the same size other than their feet. And their shoes are amazing. So much detail. maplelea.com

I'm aware of several of the Dianna Effner taught artists that paint the Little Darlings and I was aware of Helen, but never have seen any of her work so I couldn't guess on this one. My LD, Claire, was painted by Geri Uribe but after waiting 2 1/2 years for her, at my age (73) I felt I had to find something quicker. Seriously, I tried several times to get an LD painted by Dianna but she was always closed for orders when I tried. And I never could get another from Geri. So I started ordering from Magalie Dawson. I love her work. She painted my Sculpt #2 and I have a #4 on order from her now. I skipped #3 for the moment because that's the one used for the FF dolls. Down the road if I can order another LD, I'll go for the Sculpt #3 just so I have all of them, since, sadly, there won't be more. I like ordering from Magalie because you can really customize your doll. You pick the hair, hairstyle and eye color and give your doll a name of your own choosing. On Magalie's website she has a place to get on the waitlist. She e-mails you when she has room and you place your order and make a down payment. When she's ready to paint your doll, she contacts you to see if there are any changes. She then paints the doll and gets your okay before finalizing the process. So far it takes less than a year for a doll. Long enough for me to get the balance together. Hopefully I'll be hearing from her soon that she's ready to paint my doll.
