Eventhough Converse sneakers are originally designed for basketball by having high top to cover your ankles and unslippery outsole, they are not used for that purpose as much now. I suggest you should checkout professionally designed basketball sneakers from Nike, Adidas or Reebok. As for Converse, with the sport required movements a lot like basketball, I think the classic version is better by being so much lighter comparing to the 70s.

To me as ma owner of both, yes, the 70’s have a better and removable inner sole.

Chuck 70s has a slightly higher outsole, however the difference is not that much to be easily noticed. The main signature of the Chuck 70s are the polished layer and overall off-white tone of the sneakers.

I regret to have purchased 70s as they are less comfy compared to classic all star, I got my feet callus and I don't get why pay extra for the shoes to make your feet suffer?
