you got a 5 string bass in drop-C? i thought that was a cool sounding little riff and i wanted to play it, and i just grabbed my hyrbid bass in drop C and it was there. kinda threw me off to see Prog metal in anything higher than Standard B. seems like everyone doing Prog has to downtune to friggin drop L-Flat and throw in a bunch of brown notes that you can "Feel" rather than hear. I personally prefer B, but it was cool to see an up-tuned bass doing something pretty heavy. and that finger technique is interesting. its like you just barely move on the strings and still get good tension, what you runnin, 130 gauge? i'm guessing you do custom guage since regular 5 string lights wont handle well, especially the higher 4 being up a step and a half. its why i'm a stringjoy fan. if you got off-ballance tension problems they can take care of that. i got a 145-45 on my drop B rig. super heavy to light on the high strings with a very tapered tension drop so i get a ton of low woof and the high e still has a good tinny twang for slap stuff.
