Great tests! A small note, the half length blaster has slightly faster motors in it being a newer version of the blaster. That may or may not give it a slight velocity advantage but workers would still remain the accuracy champ. Very similar to my own, less scientific and more anecdotal findings.
@BradleyPhillipsYT5 жыл бұрын
Despite the motor difference possibly affecting velocity, I think some other useful information was gained in that case. For people who play to a velocity limit, say, 130fps or 150fps, something most flywheel blasters are capable of, a Worker dart tuned to the same velocity limit as an Accufake will go slightly further in range. This could be useful information to people attending End War or who play Superstock.
@projectfdl68315 жыл бұрын
@@BradleyPhillipsYT that was actually one of the driving forces with making the blaster take workers after being rather opposed to it in the past. Ragnaroktoberfest had a 150 cap during the BTA tournament. Being on that field under those restrictions it all became clear.

With the full length accufakes, most of them were falling short of the target but seemed to be on the right line, suggesting that had you aimed a bit higher, more would have hit it. For me, the downside to half darts is that they're harder to find afterwards in the grass if they land nose down.

@FelixstoweFoamForge3 жыл бұрын
Just a quick observation.. ..expecting a flywheel blaster to meet the accuracy of a springer is a bit like asking an mp40 to be as accurate as a k98k. 30 meters for a flywheel blaster is like 200m for a 9mm parabelum....basically out of effective range
@GeorgeCowsert3 жыл бұрын
I personally use full length darts in cqc while half lengths are for outside play. The simple fact that full length darts have more drag, drop faster, and have less kinetic energy means they're inherently safer to use indoors where the power behind some blasters are far more noticable. Plus, I already have a stockpile of crummy full length darts that are barely usable beyond 15 feet as is, so I might as well use them for casual "prank your friend" events.

From what I've heard, Accufakes are at the edge of their stability limit in the FDL-3 at max power. Some people actually dial their FDL-3 down a bit to get better accuracy from Accufakes. Above 200fps I'd have to guess Worker would be the only viable option.

Why do they sound different?
@BradleyPhillipsYT5 жыл бұрын
In start-up chime or flywheels?
@tsmachine25 жыл бұрын
Both sound different because they use slightly different internals. Jessie from project FDL, explained in one of his videos, that in the newer versions of the FDL 3. He uses new speed controllers and motors due to availability. Having newer motors and speed controllers, also requires newer software. Thus producing the new startup tone, and revving noises. The old software is called SimonK. Which allowed for quick response, and also made the infamous startup noise. But due to the drone market leaving SimonK for BL_Heli, (new software which is popular for drones) Jessie had to adapt for the newer FDL 3’s. The original BL_Heli was not ideal for flywheels, as it had a delay startup. But BL_Heli_32 (new FDL software) fixes these issues. So Jessie swapped the FDL 3 to BL_Heli_32. Making the newer noises, and running slightly different.

@@BradleyPhillipsYT It might? Not much. Again, your method is sound enough I don't think you're ruining science here ;) But the deviation between full and half length FPS is really statistically small. A run of 50 - 100 would have given a better sample size and I think the overall trend might have shown a slightly smaller difference, since a handful of outliers can run together, but a couple dozen probably won't. I don't think your results and conclusion are invalidated in any way, this video is excellent, solid and clear methods and discussion, reasonable results that your conclusions fit. It's less a complaint and more an idle thought that the testing part of my brain is so happy with literally everything else that the one (perceived) shortcoming in rigor stands out. You did so well, that the small sample size stood out amongst the rest! I think part of it is that in most of your videos it also feels like the test shots you take are only exemplar of what you've already been testing and examining, and this feels fully experimental, so while you're take on, say, specific SCAR barrels just sounds like "Yeah, he's shot a lot of this, we don't need to see ALL of that" this feels less rigorous. Again, not a complaint, more a "Huh. That stood out." Your videos are always interesting and informative, well shot, and clear!

@@kittenclaws5775 You're right to assume I fire a lot more darts over a chrony than what I bother to include in a video, same with firing at targets. I've known for a while that Worker darts are more accurate in flywheel blasters than full length Accufakes, and that the velocity gap isn't as bad as people on the internet would have you believe, I just didn't have the means to show it in a video in a fair comparison until now.

@@BradleyPhillipsYT It went to reason that you did! It might be worth shutting nosey folk like me up by mentioning "Yeah so this is the ten shots I filmed but it's representative of a lot of shooting." Which no one sensible should question because real life.

Come on. The best dart obviously is to glue two Worker half lengths to make a full length. 😆
