Comparison Hinderer XM18 vs Strider SMF

I have had my smf, sng, sebenza 21 and umnumzaan for a while now and am finally buying my first Hinderer xm 18 3.5in in the morning, FDE working finish DLC blade. Can't Wait to handle my first hinderer

The Slicer grind on my gen6 xm18, is excellent. I traded my FireTac for it and i love it. 20cv and easy to sharpen on my Spyderco Sharpmaker.

Ur not comparing right models. U should hv compared the XM-24 with SMF and the XM-18 3.5 with SnG. That would be a more appropriate comparison

I know the overall size is closer but the sng has such a short blade that I don't find it a good comparison maybe to the 3" hinderers. But the sng is too small for me anyway so I'll never have one to compare

@@Kevinclearysharpstuff I'm thankful that you compared these 2, I want both a Strider and a Hinderer, But I don't want them to be the same size, was torn between a combination of an SMF and XM18-3.5 or a SNG and XM18-3 and I think you talked me into exactly what you showed in the video. Now I just need to be able to find an SMF for sale haha

Nice and high quality knives. The Hinderer maybe better overall, but the Strider is for me a much more exciting design. Then again, the XM24 Bowie would have it all for me:-)

Kyle i agree 24 and the s.m.f. are more comparable. the 24 i feel that the lock on the hinderer is made better. in the fact when i use my 24 harder cuts push cuts i still disengage without trouble. smf hard to unlock during hard use.

I have owned both at the same time. The Hinderer won for me hands down. I sold the Strider.

I have Hinderer xm-18 and MSG-3 ..... They are same size , but SMF is biger. For me xm-18 is better for combat cqc but MSG-3 is quite better for unility use.

Pastor, wondering what Strider has said or done to make you think him not the equal to Hinderer? Mick has always been salty and ruff on the edges. That's just him. Myself I would take the Strider for the hard use knife. But then I would rather have both like you have! I wonder what steel Archangel blades are?!

***** There are a few threads on bladeforums that discuss this point rather exhaustively so that's where I would check. I bring it up in the video because otherwise I'll get a bunch of comments telling me how bad he is and how no one should buy Striders at least this way I can say look I know the stories but am going to just look at the knife itself.
