Hahaha! Definitely not a cheap replacement, but you'll have a hard time finding a better sounding set of headphones for the same cost as the P7. I thought they sounded great! -Carl

Your doing something you will not regret, fantastic headphones, only gripe is the case that’s supplied with them is not fit for purpose. The flimsy material underneath the case gets splits in from normal placement of the headphones in to the case. Bowers and Wilkins should address this for the premium price they charge

I was looking to buy a pair of P7s around Christmas time, but they have been put on the back burner, as I have just found a used but mint condition pair of wireless P5s for the UK equivalent of $164. I am very impressed by the sound quality, and will use them eventually for travel/holidays. B&W make some great products, and I already own a pair of their in-ear headphones and a mini Zeppelin.

I have a P3, P5 wireless and P7 non wireless. they are all great headphones. I use my P7 for watching and studying, and my P5 wireless for taking calls everyday (17 hours with a single charge !). the P7 will adjust to your ear after 5 mins, so you will have to wear it for a while before it gets more comfortable. I like how the P7 can produce an amazing and fun sound quality without being battery powered or have DSPs, an indication on great material and internal design.

What happened to the P5s

I LOVED the audio from the P7s, but I just could not adjust to its clamping pressure, so I had to return it. Would you say that the P9s, regardless of the weight, are more comfortable in terms of clamping pressure?

HI Alok, we actually had that same complaint from our videographer when he tried on the P7 as well. I would agree that the P9 is more comfortable in regards to that aspect even though they're heavier. I would guess that the P7, over time, would wind up stretching, which would ease the clamping pressure. -Carl

Awesome, thanks for the response and info. Yeah I tried that with the P7, placed it on various objects while not in use to try to stretch it out a bit. Unfortunately did not work in the short time frame I had before deciding to return it, though it could possibly work over time. I guess the excessive clamping pressure was also just very apparent to me because my other main headphones (Sennheiser HD598 and Sony MDR-1A) are just so comfortable. I think I'd actually be willing to spring for the P9 if clamping pressure is no worse than average for the over-the-ear category, and if sound leakage is acceptably low for this to be considered in an open office environment.

Hey, I know that this is an insanely late response, but I had some look with relieving the clamping pressure. The headphone stand that I use is the shape of a human head, and I leave the p7's on there whilst they are not in use. It massively reduced the clamping pressure over a couple of weeks, to the point where they are virtually just resting on my head without applying much pressure at all. www.overclockers.co.uk/in-win-mr.-bubble-headphone-stand-blue-sp-003-iw.html

I own the P5, P9 and had the PX. The P9 >>>> PX by miles, the P5 is also better. B&W dropped the ball with their new headphones, the lead engineer left the company and I believe the last headphones he was involved in were the P9 and P7W, theyre also by far and away B&Ws best efforts in the portable market.

I agree. I think you'd be disappointed if you shelled out $900 for the P9's because even though they would sound good, it would be $900 better than the P7's which are excellent. I have the P7's and I just don't think there's much room for improvement.

Mr2pint I always make sure to eat my 5 GMOs a day to keep the carcinogens flowing. I'm hearing like over 9000khz now.

Some Random Guy Might be something in that - last time I traveled through the US my hearing did improve some come to to leave. I dinned on traditional American i.e. MacDonald's, Burger King. I cant say contracting cancer was worth the 5 kHz increase though..

Just in terms of sound quality, are p3 Series 2 and P5 the same? do you think they will make somthing new to replace the cable p3 series 2, well i mean, with a bluetooth one? from a curious newbie. :)

Hi Joshua. The P5 has bigger drivers and a lower THD and in my opinion has better sound, but sound quality is a very subjective rating. If you live in the Chicagoland area you should stop by our store and try them both on to see which you like better. -Carl

1-Star Rating. Decent sounding headphones, TERRIBLE construction. I have had two B&W P3 Series2s, and BOTH of them had the same problem: the design of the spot where the earphones wires attach to the headband is AWFUL!!! 1. the wires do not attach deeply into the headband; and 2. the metal that is supposed to hold the headphone attached is WEAK,; it eventually loosens up and the wire attachments fall out. It happened to me twice. NEVER BUY THESE; You're asking for frustration and aggravation.
