Nice little test, I'm planning to do a similar thing when I got the time. What's the story behind the "unknown" crystal malt? You don't remember who's the producer or is it a no-name brand?

It's a bit of a strange story. I got it as a gift, and it is clearly labelled as "Thomas Fawcett Pale Crystal Malt, 90 EBC". But it tastes completely different to the other T-F Pale Crystal with 70 EBC, which I bought myself. T-F only sells the paler one, according to their website. So I guess the stuff I got gifted is just something unknown, which the seller mislabelled.
