mips can do read/writes on 8,16,32 bits, but it clears the rest of the register

yes but it is still only writing 32 bits at a time (the rest of the bits are just zeroed out for the write)

architectures built on some other ones remind me of recreating god instructions from "recovered" ancient scrolls, yea would everyone audibly applicable be interested

You know that internally x86 is a RISC right? It's translating CISC into a number of RISC insns before inserting them into the pipeline.
