I thought that was delightful. Thank you. You could always spend more time on the small cards for some like me.😀

Just re-watched this after watching the Tarology film today. I really dig how Enrique Enriques reads the tarot. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

I think he's totally fascinating, though I have to admit I frequently have no idea what he's talking about. The movie definitely helped me make sense of it a bit. I'd tried reading his book and found it inscrutable. But I do think he's cool. I think he has a really visual sense, which I lack, so that's fascinating. I don't know how he does. it.

He's nuttier than a box of nougat but in a totally wonderful way. I am super visual, so his way makes such sense to me. I may have to give his books a go.

It's a quick read! And I don't think it was super expensive. Camelia Ellias publishes it.

Tarot de marseille heritage website now offers the re drawing of the Conver that is pretty perfect. You mentioned that you would like that. THere's also a website on Ebay that sell those Heritage decks. Thanks for the comparison. Anne

In case you still read comments here: An Observation: In the Jodorovsky's Fool, that round thing on the ground is actually a bell! Looks like the creators didn't know what it was when they drew that ball. Just noticed on several Fool-cards on the website: www.tarot-de-marseille-millenium.com, you will find the bell on the ground clearly on the old TdM 2 cards, which are sold on this site. Hope this helps. Next, want to find that egg, might also appear on the 18th century decks?

I enjoyed your video. I actually also have the Camoin deck from the video and a mini Claude Burdel, Schaffhausen 1751 Marseille deck which ressembles the Camoin. However in the mini deck only the pips of the Swords and Wands are numbered which I think is odd. Also there's no eggs or other stark differences in the mini which I like very much.

+Margaret Patterson Thank you!! I'd love to get a really nice copy of a Marseilles deck, like one of the Il Meneghello editions. Though I did promise myself I wouldn't buy anything all month.

Interestingly, both of these decks have the empress holding the sceptre in their left hands. this seems to be an error in copying an original without considering its reversal when printed. You'll notice with the earlier hand painted Visconti decks, the Empress and Emperor both hold their sceptres in their right hands correctly. Thank you for your video. :) I agree about the Wheel, I don't like the art on most renditions either.

This was a treat for me to watch as I'm currently having a little love affair with the Camo-Jodo. Iconoclasm aside, I love it, love its vitality, its audacity and boldness. The humanity of the figures, the colors and facial expressions are so accessible to me. I can’t get enough of it. That said, after watching your vid I’m so looking forward to the arrival of my Noblet. I did have to do a little about-take seeing The Emperor’s placement to the right. But the size, the subtle colors, the refined vibe…can’t wait. Thanks for this. Oh, and I grew up in Ottawa and spent a lot of my childhood in French Canada land. And finally, if you're on a TdM kick, look, don't look at Il Mene's Classico Marsiglia. Swoon-worthy.

+Dance of the Soul Tarot The Noblet and Jodo I think are a nice pair. It's like, what mood am I in? But yes. I wish I were kinder to the Jodo deck. I should be. I looooove the IM Classico. I've come close to buying it, but I'm on a deck moratorium until I break down and spend all my savings at The Reader's Studio in a couple weeks.

Now the CBD is easily available via USGS, any thoughts on how that stacks up, compared to these two? Will you be getting it? (Weirdly, I think I love the Noblet pips better than the Conver.) Now going hunting for your Council of 13 spread!!

I sense a terrible trend: I will begin to collect Marseille decks just b/c they're weirdly beautiful ... but I will never READ Marseille decks.

Thank You! for doing this, really helps seeing what Marseille deck to get. Jodorovsky's yellow in the cards is off-putting. I will definitely get this version of Noblet, and that would be enough! (except, got the gorgeous Marshmallow deck). Regarding the exposed tits in one of the court cards, I may be wrong, but there were phases in time when showing the nipples was fashionable! I might research this, and maybe consider what was the norm? Like in Renaissance art where you had the freedom of not worrying about being prude. Anyway, 6 months ago I was not interested in this at all, but in the past two days got 'the TdM bug' and want to know everything about the original Marseille decks. (Yes, I got your book also to look forward to reading).

I have two favourite cards in the Noblet - that Fool (what's not to love there :D) and the Tower - that lightening coming from inside. It puts a very different slant on it for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you

Possibly the only deck I'm buying in Depth Year 2019, the Noblet, going back deep into TdM 6:02 There's gotta be some "connection" between the dog and the Fool's balls, then the Magician holding onto half a penis, no?!!?
@thefoolsjournal
@thefoolsjournal 5 жыл бұрын
I think in some decks the Magician's wand is more penile than others... In the Noblet, I think it looks more wand-like. But you know what Freud said... ;-)

I just ordered this Noblet recreation and I can’t wait to get it in my hands! LOL I believe his name would be pronounced “Nobleh” I don’t speak French but I was a vocal music major in college and when we sang French songs the diction rule was a consonant at the end of the word was not pronounced unless it was fallowed by a vowel I.e. Noblet would be pronounced “Nobleh” where Noblete would be “Noblet.” In a sentence structure the vowel rule holds across words, for example Je suis would be pronounced “Je swee” but Je suis enchante would be pronounced “Je sweesenchanteh” with an elision happening between the two words... Side note: I’ve been working through your book and it is the best, most practical book on Tarot I’ve worked with... I’m loving every page I work through! I’m going through your section on the Court cards and had a thought on setting rules with them... My idea is deciding all Courts will refer to other people with the thought that any messages that would pertain to what the querent needs to address within themselves would show up in the Pips or, if major issues, would show up in the Trumps... Do you think this would be practical or do you think that would be an oversimplification of the Courts?
@thefoolsjournal

Thanks for this!! I'm so glad you're liking the book! How you described it was really my goal -- so that makes me really happy! I think your idea is great -- and I think the main thing is that you have something that works for you and you stay relatively consistent with it, so I say "bravo!"

hahaha what you just said about sounding like Julia Child. hahah the hanged man looks dead or manic. Anyway, I have this strange relationship with Marseille decks. I've been looking at and researching them for a couple years and still haven't purchased one. I find it fascinating looking at different ones. I also wonder what in the world I would do with those pip cards. Out of these, I like how the Flornoy deck feels more old world and I actually like how it is more primitive, what you just called crude while I was writing that. Have you seen any of the Dodal decks, either by Flornoy or Pablo Robledo. Are you familiar with Robredo's decks. I think they look amazing. Thanks for doing this! There are some of us nerds out here!

Very informative video, but please learn to pronounce Jodorwsky surname - click on polish translate.google.pl/#en/pl/chodorowski His surname is transcripted from polish to spanish this is why there is a letter "J" at beginning which sound is 'h' like in word harsh.
