Hi Bonnie, I just wanted to say a big thankyou for making this incredibly thorough video - you clearly know the setups so well and spell out the differences really clearly. I found the Grace company website (UK) a bit minimal in the info it gave about both so I couldn't tell the differences and why there was a price difference, so I searched KZbin and here you were! I've been a bit frustrated quilting double-bed quilts on my domestic machine, even though it's a good machine (Janome MC9450QCP), and am now making a King-size quilt and have been dreading quilting it - I think I need one of these! 😀

I quilt mostly king-sized quilts and do them so easily on my Cutie. I haven't yet done a king on my Cutie Breeze, but I'm sure I will. I've also created a Facebook group for the Cutie, Cutie Breeze and all other hoop-based frames... facebook.com/groups/2877716595873452/?ref=share_group_link

That was fascinating! I have the original Cutie & this week will use it for the first time. We bought the G-Series accessory top Carriage so I would have handle bars above for using with my Babylock Allegro. My husband kindly put it all together for me & I can see how much more easily & efficiently the new Cutie Breeze can be assembled. Looks like Grace made some real improvements. But I will use my original & no doubt enjoy it greatly. Thank you for this information!

Thank you so much for explaining the differences between the two cutie's. I just purchased the original cutie last month and a couple of days later found out about the cutie breeze, just my luck, so I was curious about the differences. I hadn't heard of the cutie and now there is two of them, heck I didn't even know Grace Company existed until I was looking for a different type of rotary cuter. Thank again.

Hi Bonnie! I love this video - its detailed list of differences helped me decide between the 2 models. I also love the idea of using a Husky table with drawers, but the only version I’ve found (Home Depot) measures only 24” deep. The original Cutie frame is 33”-38” deep. Do you just let the front of the frame hang over? Or did you find a deeper Husky table? Thanks again! I’m a new subscriber now!

The 24" x 52" Husky is just the right size. The base of the original Cutie's footprint is 24" x 48". The Cutie Breeze base footprint is 24" x 51".

I need to ask what some might consider a stupid question. If you want to stitch straight line, in the ditch, can you use this frame with your walking foot without dropping the feed dogs? I tend to do more in the ditch quilting than free motion, so I was wondering if this frame would take the hassle out of keeping the weight of the quilt up. Basically, would the rails just provide the support of the fabric sandwich, and allow the machine to stitch without the resistance of the weight? Or do the rails prevent the feed dogs from being engaged?
@quiltingonathread
@quiltingonathread Жыл бұрын
Your walking foot rollers actually rely upon the feed dogs to assist in the "drive". I've never considered using a standard presser foot on the frame. I use a ruler foot and a ditch ruler to do stitch-in-the-ditch on the frame. The frame doesn't prevent the feed dogs from being engaged...that is a machine feature.
@kimsellers1470
@kimsellers1470 Жыл бұрын
@@quiltingonathread Yes ma'am. I understand that the walking foot presser foot must have the feed dogs engaged in order to pull the fabric through the machine, and that the feed dogs are a machine feature. I was just wanting to know if it is possible to use the walking foot and have your feed dogs engaged while using the frame. I was curious if the rail that runs through the throat of the machine would prevent them from working properly. I don't have a newer machine with a stitch regulator and prefer to have nice even stitches. Thank you for responding.
@quiltingonathread
@quiltingonathread Жыл бұрын
@@kimsellers1470 TECHNICALLY, there's nothing that prevents you from attempting this. HOWEVER, you would only be able to do so going left-to-right and you would need to move the machine in exact coordination with your stitch speed. I suspect you would break needles frequently if you were to stray off of the straight path, as there would be a tendency to pull the needle with the material path. I wouldn't do it and I'm not recommending it, because I don't have enough information to know that it won't cause some damage to your project or your equipment (machine and walking foot) if you were out of sequence.

@@quiltingonathread Thank you very much. I appreciate your input on this. I used to own the 12 foot Grace machine quilting table that was made of wood and took up 1/2 of my sewing room. I did some free motion quilting on it but never tried it with a walking foot. I am very interested in getting the Cutie frame and hope to get back into FMQ again. I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you so much for your help.

Bonnie, please help me decide between buying a Cutie or a Cutie Breeze. I inherited a Husqvarna Platinum 16 with its own table and I would like to get into frame quilting. Will my Platinum 16 work with either the Cutie or the Breeze? Several members of a Facebook group say they have used their Platinum 16 on a cutie Successfully. Should I take the plunge and buy a Cutie for my machine? Thank you for your help.
@quiltingonathread
@quiltingonathread 9 ай бұрын
If your Platinum 16 will fit the Cutie it will fit the Cutie Breeze. The Cutie has been discontinued, so your only "new" option is the Cutie Breeze. It's possible to find a used Cutie on used merchandise sites, so if you want to go that route, you could save a bit. I think you would be very happy with either. I watched the whole video. The problem is if you dont have any experience with either frame, your information is not helpful to make a decision as to which one is better to buy. Im interested in buying a frame and thought this would be an affordable option and would fit in my available space, but the information youre providing would only be helpful if I had prior experience. Could you address first-time buyers please.

@@debramontes5027 the ruler tape that is on the front and back rails is a washi-type tape that I bought by at Hobby Lobby.
