This was a terrific video. Summarising what you see as the state of play--the quality of work being done--is very useful, and especially your straightforward comments where individual titles are concerned. Agree completely with how Compass Games has raised their game. They are doing good work, and when they do not, there are substantial discounts during their annual sales to compensate, or in instances of counter or map problems, they are quick to respond and send out materials at no charge (unlike some other companies, such as GMT). Kudos to them--and to you Sir for mentioning the same. Two comments, if I may: 1. It's good to see their production schedule, though it does seem that there are a number of games that are quite a long way off. Because they tend to run Kickstarters for games already about to ship--a practice that I do not even pretend to fathom--it's difficult to really know what will emerge. Their schedule certainly imposes patience (see the IRA game), but perhaps caution as well. 2. Republishing the games of others from long ago is working out well for Compass and fellow wargamers, though not always. You mentioned 'Seapower And The State' and that it's a Stephen Newberg design from Simulations Canada. Whether it's a reprint (a reissue) or a revised version will matter. The tendency with Simulations Canada games from Compass has been that there have been few updates (apart from the components) and errata and other shortcomings are not always corrected in the new release. Perhaps that will get fixed, but thus far, it seems not to have happened. Thanks again. All best wishes to Compass and to you.

Mate good point on the magazine games. I played one redo the Tobruk one from Sim Can. IT WAS HORRIBLE. No updates, no fixes. In fact more errors added. Its why I now avoid Paper Wars, I cannot bear playing Ty's generic one system fits all games and the reprints have zero effort put in to 'upgrade'. So Im better off finding a $5 copy.

Nice overview. I'm not the only one that scrawls all over the Compass ads (though I've never put "LOL" on a game before. he he) I think this is the only piece of mail I actually get excited for every year. :). Ended up grabbing Cradle of Civilization and The Battle Of Armageddon for super low price. I took a shot preordering Stellar Horizons 2. We'll see. :)

Europe in Turmoil (first was pre-WW1 and second is lead up to WW2) is a expansion of the Twilight Struggle system with some pretty simple but interesting improvements. Both are worth owning IMO for the history depth (card driven). Edit: Last Gamble is superb. Feels like a maturity step for Compass.

I have a lot of titles on my radar, have added them to my watchlist but can't really get too many unless I wait and get them via Noble Knight. Really wish Compass figured out a good way to sell games internationally at a reasonable price, in a similar way GMT does stuff with UK's Second Chance Games.

good point. Hopefully they can sort that out one day

More rehash of 1970s and 1980s game. The 800# gorilla in the room is the lack of Donbass '24 games. Also where are the Iran-Iraq games. Sick of WW2 games.

Donbass '24. Who knows what is happening and why.? No one. I'll wait. The current crop are a quick cash in.

@war_gamer Agreed. I like the latest "The last Gamble", but the quality of that game is a delightful outlier. It's the preferences for the quick buck which is what gets me.

So. Yes. I think there is a bit of that. But I'd rather see reprints of hard to get stuff, than 100 COIN/Euro/womens suffrage games dressed up and called 'wargames' or conflict simulations :) . So I'm ok with the reboots on GDW, and Their SOLO game stable is the BIGGEST of all publishers.
