Josh, you don't have to lift your shoulders super high when you shoot unless you're Ray Allen or Play Thompson. Steph Curry shoots with his shoulders lower. Might work for you? Whatever is comfortable for you man. Now, I'm not a shooting coach, but one thing I learned is to keep your shooting shoulder relaxed.
