I love this format of showing off the boulders with your thought processes and then showing the actual climbers try them in comp! More of these if possible

It was a pleasure seeing you and Nikken in the same video, even if only in a limited capacity. Great content as per usual.

Yeah hoping we can create some more content again soon! He’s often out and about doing stuff with Eric that I don’t really wanna toss a camera on his face all the time 😅

this was really fun to see how you meant for it to be done and how other people climbed it! thank you for all the insight.

Thanks for the nice video! As a setter very interesting to see your thought process for this competition. I think for finals complexity is something to be very considerate of, because this can make boulders quite impossible in the short time frame of a final and can also break the show a bit. Although if someone did find the toehook on M2 it would've been very rewarding! Also I think the toehook on W2 was way reachy, at least if that was the only beta. Anyway, I really enjoyed the beautiful boulders. Thanks again for the nice video! Hope to see more like this!

We had a different method for W2, but in retrospect that was way too powerful hehe... Good lessons though!

Love watching videos featuring routesetters: the DJs of climbing, reading and setting the mood of the audience.

Emil and Nikken in a video together again!!! Even if just for a little bit that was special. Hoping Emil and the EKB crew can find some room for collabs in the future. Definitely a crowd favorite as far as Climbing KZbin Avengers squads go. Loving all your content Emil! Keep it up! :)

Just went to visit BLX with my partner inspired by these recent vids. Some of the most creative and fun routesetting I've ever experienced there! Amazing work. Moumo was similarly super neat and a perfect place for training :)

Heyo! That's really nice to hear, thanks for sharing. I'm glad you liked the setting!

Great boulders! However i do think some of the problems that the women experienced couldve been avoided had there been female setters. I agree with you that men can set for women and vice versa, it’s just important for testing to have a female perspective as well. Not only strength wise but also generally their bodies work differently sometimes (more flexible, smaller hands etc)

I find it rewarding to watch people work my boulder to find difrent ways to climb it. At the same time it is cool forcing moves💪💪🤠

Great route setting! Disregard the cocky shrug it was mostly surprise that the boulder wasn’t as hard as it looked 😅

This was a really, really cool format for a video! But maybe the competition footage could be shown first? Building up the curiosity on how to manage the boulders. I found myself going back to watch the first part again afterwards. Just some thoughts

That’s a good idea! If I do this again I’ll probably play around with that format instead

This just shows how hard it is to get the difficulty right. Even more so while having just two boulders in the finals. In the women finals, none of the competitors got close to top, reducing the competition to everyone just trying one or two moves over and over again.

It’s not a break Emil, it’s just another beta. From one route setter til another. I’m tired of thinking they break the beta. Only if they find an easier way to do the boulder. Then it’s a break🤠👍🎄
@EmilAbrahamsson2 жыл бұрын
Totally a fair point, beta breaks aren't really breaks, just solutions. Unless you skip all of it of course :P

Do you think the womens boulders would improve if there was a female setter?
@EmilAbrahamsson2 жыл бұрын
I thought about it, I don’t like to separate between genders and say that one has to perform one job because of their gender (e.g have a woman setting for women, man for men), I like to think we’re all equal. That being said, I would love to see more female setters over all (we have ridiculously few in Sweden), because regardless how I feel toward separating between genders that gap in the profession is worse. So to answer your question, I don’t think a female setter necessarily would’ve made a difference, but I would’ve liked to see one in the team anyways. The yellow boulder was too hard because of one of my recommendations, and the first draft would probably have been great
@jjdmadn24252 жыл бұрын
I think it'd be better if we could have an instant comparison, like show you doing the boulder the intended way, then right after how it was done by people, instead of showing multiple betas done by setters the multiple betas done by climbers
