I've noticed with a lot of 5+ cmc cards in a deck, the land draws whiff and your chances of drawing low cmc cards are insanely low. Built a WBG pw deck with around 10 2 drops, took about 10 games to get one in the first draw.

I've also tried Esper versions of Angels, and my draws are absolute trash...plus I get paired with decks that somehow perfectly counter the strat.

I feel the same way when I've played Orzhov angels. nothing to do until it's too late or nothing lives/resolves. Switched to abzhan angels with green shapeshifters and Binding, has been working hella better

I have the exact same experience with this deck. I play a similar angel tribal deck often but my two and three drops always get killed or exiled right away and by then it’s basically game over when the opponent has 2-3 creatures out.

Dude I'm right there, been playing BW angels similar build for over a month and as much as I love it, half the time its brutal. Even when I mulligan aggressively for Giada on 2 my mana hates me so much whether it's flood or screw.

Liesa has quickly become one of my favorites. 5 toughness is a great answer to Goldspan, Hinata. And the ability to get all your guys back end of turn is an amazing effect late game.

I’m sure you caught this one but you missed lethal game one by not playing Giada pre-combat. Play Giada, legend rule the summoning sick one away, trigger Youthful Valkyries, swing for 10

the 2 drop to run is Nullpriest of Oblivion. it's insane with Liesa. also doing snow lands with Blood on the Snow is also good with Liesa.

in game one, you could have won the turn you played the second giata if you'd played it main phase 1 and keep the original; the valkyries each get a counter and you swing for exactsies

@10:50 when there's all 3 liesa's in the hand and only 4 lands on the battlefield, the shuffler will put in the 4th one from outside and CGB will draw it

I get so many cursed draws. Was playing UW yorion in explorer. 4 games in a row I had farewell in my opening hand as my only removal. I only have 2 farewells in that 80 card deck.

Some days my decks decide that I don't need lands, and that frustration makes me abandon them for a few days until they start pumping out that sweet mana on curve again. So I totally understand the cursed deck feel.

I basically learned on angels and clerics so I love angels but it feels so hit and miss. Either you win by turn 4 or you fight a long game of attrition! Glad I got to see you play Liesa though. Always liked that card.

Going esper might be better for angels, you see a guard approach and void rend can improve the protection and improve removal on multi colored matchups

I’ve been trying my own take on orzhov angels and tested all day. So far I’m like 10-2 (the 2 losses were both against Boros aggro and I got either mana screwed or mana flooded). It’s a good solid deck but definitely not one that can bring you up the ladder. Too bad it’s going to rotate out in September.

I spent a huge amount of time to build a decent angel deck to play with my group but it has not been too kind to me. One of us won very consistently with an aggro deck so every single one exept me started playing control/removel decks out of spite. Really has been sucking out the fun out of the game lately

Having always played Arena on Legendary mode (opponent never misses land drops, has perfect curve/draw every game, opening hand having all the top end card, always on the draw, and they conjure whatever card they need whenever they need it for any situation via the shuffler) i can say it is both painful and cathartic to watch it happen to someone else. More painful though, downright soul-sucking

Yep J have no luck with angels either this version or one MTG am alone posted about same time as you. Too much cheap interaction either fading hopes x3 prismari command x 2 into arcane bombardment can’t seem to keep any angels on board more than one two turns tops. Mono black about same thing they stableized at 6 mana and it is over , esper too raffine is a massive blocker without angels staying long enough to add tokens or being able to pop off the Valkyrie boost ability. Then there is aggro decks again lots burn for 2 for Giada and three damage for rest aboutbonly thing stays put in first 5 turns is Valkyrie again. So if you don’t pull two of them you can’t block more than one turn and forget it if they drop an ob nixlis or a underdog or even a trespasser that goes to night. Four verses aren’t enough to deal with mono black. Then there are weird decks like jaspers into Magda into votingclex on turn three. I’m like wait what just happened. Lol I haven’t got one creature played because only have three drops in opening hand and they have vorinclex so jo more counters on any angels even if I had them in play. This deck is too slow too passive can’t protect anything and only decent removal is verse which is sort of scuffed unless your opponent play mostly mono color creatures without ward like this deck.Finally if playing mirror and they get Giada down first seems like may as well scoop.

I played a lot of angels at the beginning of SNC because Giada is busted - I'm 2 for 2 on getting play in points from entering standard events with the deck but my winrate on the ladder is pretty terrible. Very fluky deck, super fun when it's going off but really brittle if the draw doesn't work out perfectly

The match making since I stopped spending money on the game has gotten so bad that I'm giving up the app. I started this game about 18 months ago and hit mythic 4 times in the first 5 months. I've had numeric ranks in mythic. I have played about 15 drafts and won 7 games like 3 times and 6 games multiple times. I can usually guess what play you are going to make before I play it. I'm not a bad player by any means. But I'm also going first only 20% of the time now and I have a win rate sub 50% with every deck I play no matter what deck I play. The crazy draws I get are absurd.

I've noticed weird patterns to decks with a lot of high cmc cards, especially the high cost spell lands. Swapping out one at a time and testing usually ends up in better draws somehow 🤷‍♂️
