The 3 toxic drives incentives. Boosting/hacking is already prevalent, but is more incentivized during limited-time event rewards. Players are incentivized to intentionally throw matches before a drive weekend so they can easily obtain the consecutive wins necessary to reach drive checkpoints. And finally, the most prevalent...players know that match quality is going down not just for the event, but because it's the end of the season, so players feel incentivized to "off-role", meaning players don't want to risk their rank for their primary role (tank, dmg, supp), but they're willing to play a different role that they don't care about their rank on, and try to brute force their way through by playing a role they don't fully understand.

There's a huge problem with drives, one being the amount of QP players cluelessly marching into comp and the major one: too many ppl just play to derank to reach a level that they can steamroll and farm all the drive laddder without. I'm a plat player and keep find people that should be in like master lobibes. These ppl simply don't give a rat's ass to comp andd rarely play beside the Drive event making everybody elses life miserable. I love the name tags, but the whole concept of the event has to be fixed.

i think the main issue is drives "Drive" you to play, and if your at a hard stuck point, your kind of stuck grinding veeeery slowly. you want to win, but if you get lucky and get carried past where you belong, yeah its gunna slap you down HARD. who cares about qp warriors queueing up? lol. seriously, if you get them, chances are your not in a rank good enough for their plays to matter. your just tilting yourself to lose. qp isn't even THAT casual atm, hammer only torbs? i haven't seen those kinds of players in qp in YEARS. i mean only ONCE ive seen a freindly in qp in the past four seasons. unless your in diamond or above, its just an excuse people use imho. one you need to quickly abandon to actually start improving in your games. im an average joe, im not some superhuman GM smurf player, i can easily complete these drive seasons, so can you. stop blaming others, focus on yourself. unless your diamond and above, which case, i pray for your success. my games have mostly been fine, i lose some, i win some. but this is a VERY bad mindset encouraging these kinds of thoughts. DPS players were god awful like how are you 5 kills and 13 deaths in a 6 minute game. HOW. Also I played around 12pm to 5pm. Still horrible dps players.

You can't earn drive points on placements so if someone is in your game , they are your rank and have around the same skill level as you, them not normally playing comp has nothing to do with it. I normally stick to QP but when i do comp for the drive events my rank mostly just goes up, the losses are few and far between

You only have to win above 33% of matches to gain drive. It's really not asking much since you should average 50% win rate at the correct rank. Sure, it's more QP players, but the other team has exactly the same mix of players.

The problem is not the "Drives", it has a name: The pairing system ( a.k.a. the "matchmaking" ). My brother and I, suffered from it yesterday. We had a little streak of victories and then, lots of losses. Packs of stupid people who doesn't know how to move, how to position, how to use their abilities and when to fall back. Last season: Sucked at tank placements, got placed at bottom of bronze, absolutely soared my way through about 2/3s of the comp drive in a few hours (got to 2nd badge level, almost final level of comp points), gave up at silver 5. This season: Yo-yoed between Silver 5 and Bronze 1, barely got 500 cp, couldn’t even get halfway to the badge, gave up after I lost all progress, and I was already seeing Sigmas cycling their cool downs almost perfectly, indestructible Zaryas, Sombras appearing behind me out of nowhere as if her rework never happened, and several enemy teams that we just could not break through while my team was almost always spread out or staggered every other fight. Is low silver really that difficult or something?

These competitive drives won't even do a good job at bringing the quick play warriors to comp. I bet you that they will hop on comp, play the event, and once the event is over they'll all just leave because there's no reward for playing comp other than the abysmal amount of competitive points you get from winning 💀. Blizzard always seems to struggle with creating long term solutions for Overwatch and this is just another one of their terrible attempts of a long term solution that'll probably be scrapped after a few seasons.

The drives were a whole week... It was on for 7 days. That's first, since I see some people complaining about that. Anyways, I can't imagine people complaining about a skill issue in comp... I got done with the drives in 2 days with no more than 15 games. I lost about 30% of those because we were duo quing and I was qued up for my lowest role. Drives are fine, and yes, it was obviously more sweaty. But the rewards were worth it. I didn't play at all this season other than the final 2 months, and got 2 jade guns out of it. Stop complaining because of skill issues, it's just sad.

I don't think the drive sucks as much as the hidden MMR conversion between Ranked and Quick Play sucks. If the hidden MMR from Quick Play consideres the player a mid gold but they play like a low silver then they shouldn't have been ranked mid gold. That's where the problem is coming from.

I ended up doing well with the first drive and got my first gold gun, this new drive however I couldn’t get through the drive nor could even start it due to me losing so many rounds I only won 2 different times out of the 20 times I played so I kinda just gave up on the new drive lol

I hate these drives I don’t normally play comp, and this just makes me lose games and games in a row I literally ranked down to gold 5 from 6 and it’s all cause of these drives All I want is the comp points for Illaris gold weapon please 😢

Theres literally no difference between qp and comp if anything comp is easier i always get against tryhards that play like the world is gonna end if they don't win on qp and on comp people still play seriously but moderately serious at least.

As a qp warlord myself, this is a skill issue. Ur drive score gained is double what u lose. I am sorry but if u cant at least hold a 50% winrate u just need to get better at the game especially since ur games get easier as u lose more lmao. the influx of bad players isn't even a excuse either, since the bad players will be on both teams. If ur any good u ll just stomp the opening shitters and carry ur own. I farmed all of the score in a single evening with a 80% winrate, in iamond/assters lobbies just vibing on dps with a duo. it ain't that deep guys, quit coping and get the dubs gl out there!
