Is there any special rules in comp play? I didn't see any airheads or recon teams taking out arty?

Airheads get shut down almost immediately so they never really get noticed and aren’t the best to use in these matches if you are lowish on resources 400 manpower for nothing! And arty is protected, you can have 1 gun.

No, but in most comp matches all you need to do is win instead of taking as many capture points as you can. So teams often prefer to sit and 'camp' around midpoint playing defensive.
