In that episode Home Sweet Home, Fred's greed ruined it for everyone in the neighborhood. With the Japanese buying up the property, everyone could've lived a little bit better but Fred ruined it

The last part where Fred gets greedy reminds me of how the city of Oakland does business with professional sports teams. I know this statement doesn't make sense to a lot of people but what I mean is that the Oakland city government can't get anything done because they want to have control of everything won't make valiant efforts to negotiate business deals thinking that in the business world everyone will cater to their every whim. Then when their teams make efforts to leave then the city politicians make a fuss because they want to have it both ways wanting to have something but not make tj effort to keep it. Same with Fred. Wanting to work out a deal but always wanting more and more.

This is TV for you. That house was only worth like 7500. The initial offer was double then went as high as 22,500. That was a lot of money in 1975. In today’s dollars that’s 110k. They could have easily sold, bought a nicer house and had thousands left over. In real life Fred takes the initial offer lol.
