i work for Peterbilt as a mechanic and a lot of WM trash trucks for sure a dirty job but cool seeing them go back to service, its a hard industry for the trucks and people, lol are number one replaced thing is axel housing and fly wheel housing, due to the trucks being well used, cool to see how yall operate :D

not really sure I understand what a transfer station is, the garbage is unloaded here then another vehicle of some type comes here and picks it up from the pit and takes it somewhere else?

The garbage is brought here by garbage trucks. Dumped into a pit, compacted by the bulldozers then loaded into larger trucks that take it to the landfill to be buried. It saves from having all the trucks drive to the landfill that is far from where we work.

I essentially work the back end of this, or the final mile if you will. I just be haulin' 48 foot trailers full of this to the landfill from the transfer station. Surprisingly enough doing this 3 or 4 times a day you get used to the smells pretty quick unless there's something especially foul in the air, but that's not too often really. If you're curious about how the trailers empty or just in general, look up landfill tipper on here, there's a couple decent videos that show or talk about them.

The alarm will beep anytime the tailgate isnt locked or is up. It serves as a warning to keep clear of the raised tailgate or let you know the door isnt locked

They will work extra shifts to get it down. Theres a science to it,they have to bury the trash at a certain rate. So based on where they are at for the day they might move more or less trash to the landfill

Why did they lower down the axle at 11:00

It's called a tag axle. It's used to help balance/stabilize a full truck. Keeps the truck from bouncing around as the rear holds most of the weight when full. When you pull the parking brake or put the truck in reverse is automatically goes up. When you release parking brake or put truck in drive it lowers down if you have it activated.

Its impossible to get every piece to be recycled. Some people just dont care and toss it away

In places where if the county doesn't pay for recycling for businesses, they tend to not recycle unless they have enough waste cardboard for it to be worth the effort to sell the material to a paper recycling company (and make a bit of money from it).

@@hi-et1oq Recycling is not a scam, maybe the price you pay to recycle is a scam but I assure you the mills where the recycling goes after it’s been processed, use all the material and put it back into normal products you use every day. I’m curious what part of recycling you think is a scam? I’ve managed a MRF, a C&D recycling plant and a scrap metal yard so I can answer any question you may have, but I assure you….. the act of recycling is not a scam.
