feel like the UV is important. that room gets a lot of light. even then there isnt museum grade glass that is 100% UV... I would want to keep that room as dark as possible when not appreciating your awesome work if preservation is what you have in mind. Fantastic job!

Came here to say this, even as a watercolor artist, lightfastnes is of top concerns and that’s with paints formulated for light fastness. It would take long for inks not intended for light fastness, 2-3 years is enough.

Not an expert here, but I have had pokemon cards in non-UV glass frames for 5-6 years with no fading. The wall they are on doesn't get direct sunlight and the lights in the room are LED.

Man does this bring back memories. I had every single one of those cards as a kid with plenty’s of doubles and triples. I remember at one point I had every holo with a max of 4 charizards at one point. I wish I knew what happened to them all. My parents kept all my old stuff and last year when I went to their house, I found all my old baseball and basketball cards but no Pokémon cards.

Oh man this is absolutely GOALS for anyone who loves to see pokemon cards in all their glory. I love that you put it in order by card and not by Dex because that would look super in complete as 151 was split up by the three sets. The idea to display the pack arts as well was an excellent idea, as I do the same in my binders for every pack art to kinda see the history of it all. Lastly, I completely forgot how majestic Rapidash was in it's OG art. Man this truly is goals and I'll be doing the same at some point.. I just need to find a room that is void of sunlight so it won't fade the cards haha. Thanks for sharing this, HEX! It was a refreshing change to the pace of videos!

Pulling cards is overrated and actually wasn’t/still isn’t the intent of the creators vision for the game (hence why the sets can’t be completed in 1-3 BB since about 2007). I’m just saying that it is called a TRADING card game for a reason. I do recall pulling my FE Zard waiting in line at Books-A-Million that my mother insisted I get that certain pack (surprise it was a Venosaur pack…); and that was amazing obviously. However, I have many just as great memories as that one of winning cards in duels before tournaments, trading for a Mewtwo on the side of the road at a bustop 700 miles from home when I was visiting a friend, and so many more. RealBreakingNate has a cool system where when he trades something, he has a slip that he writes the “Trainer’s” name and the details as well as a short note about that person. Akin to how the games portray it. He’s of course said many times that trading is the most fulfilling way to do this hobby for him; and while it’s awesome pulling your own cards, it’s more of an OCD issue if you only get enjoyment out of doing that. Which I get it as my OCD is awful for many things. Took a long time to break me out of things like that and still occasionally I will give in. I generally set myself 1-3 chase cards and once I’ve pulled them (along with a ratio I will explain at the end of this comment), I will simply trade and buy the rest. That sometimes isn’t financially great with sets like Evolving Skies though, haha. Anyways, sorry for the rant. Hopefully it can shed some light on it being ok not to pull all or even half of the cards in a set though. My golden rule that gives me the most fulfillment and happiness that I believe that most people would enjoy is. 40/40/20: Pull 40% of the set (so usually 1-3 BB on average) Trade for 30% with any dupes I might have. Finally, purchase 20% of the remaining cards. Sometimes I will need to do a 30/30 split ergo buying another 10% and trading 10% less but usually that’s an uncommon scenario. From that ratio, I believe there’s a good story to tell in all of those experiences. Note: Bonus tip being that you can also challenge people to duel and haggle the price down if you win and even up if you lose to make it really exciting, whether that be in trade or buying with real monies, it will work with either option. Obviously not everyone plays so you can substitute matches for Rock/Paper/Scissors, guessing games, just whatever really. That adds a bit of spice to the mundaneness of purchasing (trading too but usually trading is a bit more interesting on average to most people).
